I wanted to reach out regarding how disappointed I was with our recent stay at your hotel. I specifically booked your property because it was featured in Gossip Girl, which is a show my daughter and I have always loved. This trip was incredibly special to us because it was her first time visiting New York City and part of her 16th birthday celebration. Prior to arrival, I even sent an email asking if there were any ways to make the stay feel a little extra special for her, but unfortunately I never received a response.
Upon arriving, the experience was nothing like we expected. The room felt outdated and unclean, with old, gross carpeting that immediately made the space feel uncomfortable. The wall AC unit was visibly falling apart, exposing wood underneath that appeared moldy, which was honestly concerning. The shower also felt dirty and poorly maintained, and overall the room simply did not feel clean or cared for.
I chose not to complain during the stay because I did not want to ruin the experience or mood for my daughter during such an important trip. However, the condition of the room was disappointing enough that instead of extending our stay with your hotel as originally planned, we chose to switch hotels entirely.
What was meant to be a memorable mother-daughter trip tied to something sentimental for us ended up being really disappointing. I understand hotels cannot always look exactly like promotional photos or television portrayals, but basic cleanliness, upkeep, and guest experience should still meet a reasonable standard — especially considering the reputation associated with your property.
Given the circumstances and the condition of the accommodations, I do feel a refund or partial reimbursement would be appropriate. I would appreciate your consideration and a response regarding how you plan to address this experience.
