I loved my weekday stay here- high quality bedding and bath products and food and stylish decor and helpful nice staff which are the all imprortant details, all of which were brilliant. Decor and quality level is probably inspired by Soho house, and they have made a good job of it. Lovely back terrace overlooking the Downs, this hotel makes for a classic Historic downland hotel with beams and atmosphere yet enough modern touches of quality to feel utterly luxurious. Highly recommended, I will return.

This historic hotel has been transformed (without sacrificing its character) and offers excellent accommodation in Lewes....where for some reason there is a lack of quality hotel rooms. Our room was on the third floor and was very well decorated and spotless. The bed was very comfortable. Excellent breakfast choices and staff very pleasant and helpful. Central location and easy walking distance to station. Will no doubt visit again.

We chose this venue for a Virgin experience that I was gifted for a birthday meal and very glad we did! From start to finish, the customer experience was excellent. I was mailing reservations initially and after easily sorting out a reservation I asked if it was possible to change my main course as I don't eat meat or poultry or the vegetarian option!!A choice of 2 alternatives was offered with no problem at all, for which I was very grateful to the chef. We were running late so rang to let them know - this was no problem, and after we were seated, we were offered our glass of prosecco that came with our 3 course meal. All of our food choices were delicious, so we will be back ... hopefully when the sun shines and we can sit outside on the terrace with such wonderful far reaching views of the South Downs. Thank you very much for providing such a lovely 70th birthday meal experience.

The rear terrace is a lovely place for a drink and the views are fine. The food is both expensive and tiny. The portion sizes really are a rip off. Don’t bother dining there, not unless you plan on getting another meal elsewhere

A really lovely buzzy summery dining room with delicious food and wine. This was our 3rd trip this year. I had the trout gravalax starter followed by the ricotta and lemon ravioli and it was good value, beautifully presented and tasty. Good service despite a very busy Saturday night. Drinks on the pretty outdoor terrace. I’d recommend for special occasions too. There is quite a dark dining room you first come into, so in daylight you’ll probably want to ask for a table in the lighter dining room further back.

Beautiful presentation of the building and really pleasant efficient staff , I have passed their front door hundreds of times over the years and this is the first time I have been inside , it was such a nice time that we shall definitely return .

I eat out a lot, (three times this week), and I don't often feel the need to share my experiences, good or bad. I'm making an exception in the case of yesterday's lunch at the White Hart. This was perfection. A charming room with a delightful terrace and and a stunning view. An interesting menu, offering. both value and variety. My friend and I chose well and the Picpoul bottle of white was the perfect complement. But what stood out was the quality of the staff. Efficient, personable, caring. Particular praise to the Lithuanian senior member, Ruta, I believe was her name, helping to make our lunch a truly memorable occasion. We will be back!

My dining experience was average not great as I had hoped. My pork loin for Sunday lunch was poor no crackling or apple sauce and very dry. Vegetables felt like then had been left under the warming plate prior to being dished up and not freshly cooked. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast was average. Room very cosy and very warm (no air con but did have a small fan) .
