We had a great time staying at Avana Waterfront Apts & would recommend it for sure. We spent a week on the west coast when we first arrived then a week at Aitutaki & then here for our last week. Muri lagoon is a beautiful place to swim, snorkel & if you are lucky like we were, swim with a feeding turtle. We hired a car to get around or you can catch a bus from the end of the road, or walk the 1.3km into the restaurant cafe area in Muri. The studio units are spacious & well appointed with everything you need. I’d definitely stay here again.

Perfect Island Getaway – Spacious, Relaxing, and Right on the Water We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Avana Waterfront Apartments. The location is incredible—right on the edge of the lagoon with stunning water views, gentle sea breezes, and the sound of waves to lull you to sleep. The apartments are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxed and easy stay. What really stood out was how peaceful and private it felt, while still being close to everything. The staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. This is the perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy the natural beauty of Rarotonga. Whether you’re a couple, family or group of friends, Avana has something for everyone. Simple but large and very comfortable and super quiet apartment on the edge of Muri Lagoon (swimmable from the jetty when the current is not strong and there is a swimming pool and kayaks). We have stayed at those apartments 8 times in the last 25 years. We love the feel of the place and we hope they will not change: they are not luxurious but they are very clean, bright and very well appointed with a great vibe. Desiree the insite manager is fantastic and keep the place in great shape and make sure the guests have what they need. We stayed 9 nights but could have stayed much longer. We will be back of course and we hope it will stay the same!

We stayed here as a couple for nine days and nights in August 2024 and loved it. It is about 20 minutes walk in to Muri where there are plenty of places to eat and drink. You may want to have your own transport if you stay here, although the bus stop is only five minutes walk and buses every half hour. We had bicycles for the entire time and rode everywhere on the island, the only downside being that we needed to be off the road before dark, around 1815 in August. Desiree was a fabulous host and we would definitely stay here again on a return visit.. Andrew and Alice Australia

Great accommodation and beautiful views over the lagoon to the 3 small islands. Close to town, close to Muri Beach and all the activities. Clean, well maintained Studio apartment. But the biggest plus is Desiree and her staff. No matter what we needed, Desiree had an answer or a solution and always offered to help or sort things for us!

Fantastic site right on the lagoon. Unimpeded lagoon/island views from all units. Private jetty for fishing and swimming. Nice pool too. Great spot for a family break, away from the big resorts. Lovely friendly helpful staff.

Be careful when booking of you need to cancel .. they take your money straight away but if the currency rate changes you will be out of pocket even though they state no cancellation fee Be aware when booking

Typical of what you would expect from apartments. However….. right on the inlet with their own jetty. Lovely to walk out either morning or afternoon and feed the fish. Your own reef fish on the doorstep just as good as any other location. Kayaks and snorkelling gear provided. Turtles off the end of the jetty. I don’t think you would get that anywhere else. Close to Muri beach with the food market and a whole host of activity options. It was the nice touches like a personalised welcome note on the door when you arrive, fruit and bread already there that made a difference. But the main asset was Desiree. Nothing was a problem and she was always there to assist with anything.

Loved our stay at Avana Waterfront Apartments. Large open plan room with kitchen & bathroom with deck over looking the jetty. Had everything we needed, bed was so comfy & the bread & jams/butter were a lovely surprise for breakfast. The place is abit out of Muri town but we had scooters so was easy to find & get around. The pool was great to get in after a kayak to the motu opposite & the fish feeding was amazing off the jetty. Would definitely go back on our next trip
