It is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have visited during my travels, and yet it is simple but of great elegance, with an extraordinary landscape that can be seen through the window! The food is delicious, of very high quality, and the chef is so kind and attentive, and she has a team as great as she is!! Thank you very much, I hope to be back very soon!! Thanks again, and I kiss you from France! ✨

We checked in on December 25, and rented our own car at the airport to drive to the cabin. Along the way, being Christmas, we did not realize the ferry was not working. It made our drive three hours longer than expected. In the future, I suggest letting guest Know ahead of time about the ferries. However, upon arrival, the staff made sure to accommodate us at a local restaurant for dinner. Phew! The cabin was clean, and the heated floor was awesome. Due to the remote location of the cabin and dependency of ferries, we stayed fewer nights than planned. However, the breakfast was excellent! Five stars to the chefs! We had the pleasure of spending New Years Eve at the cabin. It was truly unforgettable and one of the best NYE parties I have had the pleasure to be part of. The gourmet Norwegian meal was stellar! The kids got treated to some fireworks. At five minutes to 12, they started their fireworks. Wow! The fireworks lasted a good 10 minutes if not more. Truly was a pleasure staying here. Will plan to stay at the cabin and plan through them excursions they offer.

Booked a snowmobile safari with this organization. Everything has to go quickly here due to a tight schedule regarding the ferry. (Maybe take the ferry back an hour later?) The ride to Xlyngen is very fast and brutal. The time to change is hectic and short. No extra gloves were given, no headscarf to wear under a helmet. And this while it is very cold and windy above. There were quite a few problems in our group. Defect scooter for another couple. Rear-end collision with us. And a guide who brutally drove backwards, causing oil to leak from the scooter that had been hit. You saw the nervousness increase among the guides, partly due to the limited time. When we arrived back at XLyngen, a fish soup was quickly offered. Looked delicious, but we couldn't taste it because the boss came to take us and another couple (unjustly) out of the restaurant in a rude manner because of the minor collision. After a lot of one-sided shouting and threats from the boss, we paid NOK 2000 for minor damage to the scooter. Keep in mind that something like this happened quickly and there is no insurance that covers minor damage. You stand with your back against the wall, you cannot respond and you have to pay whatever amount they suddenly come up with. They put a random amount on it themselves. The boss threatened us with higher costs and that we could return on foot if we did not pay. We went back home with a very bad feeling, an empty wallet and an empty stomach. No more XLynging for us.

Booked snowmobiling for 3 of us with xlyngen via manawa on the Internet. Excellent trip and would love to do it again. About 7 and a half hours total round trip including about 90 mins of this actual total driving on the snowmobiles and additional breaks whilst out to enjoy scenery etc. Fantastic scenery on jiurney and at site. So on arctic bus from ttomso to ferry then picked up by xlyngen minibus at svensby and taken to base for suiting up before being taken to snowmobiles. 8 snowmobiles in group (2 people per snowmobile unless pay double and have sole occupancy) plus 4 guides. Well looked after with help getting ready and shown how to drive etc and safety aspects. Went in convoy with guides leading, trailing and in middle of group making sure we were all ok. Out initially along the flat on marked trail and then up the mountainside on a bendy and varied route. Superb views despite the poor weather and interesting varied route unlike some. Opportunities to swap driver and photos. On the way back we were given the opportunity to drive out of line on a circuit round a flat plateau area so people who wanted to could go faster which was fun. After, we were taken to the hotel restaurant on the waterside and given delicious fish soup and norwegian waffle. Would love to stay there and eat there! All the staff were so friendly and helpful and keen to make sure we all had a good time. Totally recommend and time went too quickly.

We took part in the snowmobiling activity that XLyngen offer, and what a brilliant experience, with such a brilliant company from start to finish. It was explained to us that this is a family run business - the love and care that goes into what they do to make sure everyone has a great experience was so apparent! We opted to drive ourselves to the location so that we could explore if we wanted to - there was parking, but you also could opt for a transfer from Tromso town centre. When we arrived, we were immediately met by several guides who were so friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable on what they do. We were suited and booted, given shoes, a ski suit, gloves, and a helmet (I believe I saw neck warmers/balaclavas also but we didn’t use these). We waited a short while for everyone to finish getting ready, and then jumped in a little mini bus to take us to the snowmobiles. When arriving, it was explained to us how to use the snowmobile, and any tips that we may need. If you’re not a confident driver, I’d definitely recommend having a chat with one of the very friendly guides on top of the explanation to help clarify a few things - we did see someone go off into snow (no injuries), and all the staff were very quick to help put them back on course. We drove up a beautiful mountain following the guide the entire way. There were guides stationed at different points in our little convoy (front, middle and back, as well as a few extra staff I think?). In total, it was about an hour going up and back down - plenty of time to take in the stunning views, as well as a chance to stop at the top to take some photos! The routes were clearly pathed out, with the difficulty being okay for beginners if you have never done this before. There is also an opportunity to change drivers at the top if you both wanted to have a go at driving - the snowmobile is a two person snowmobile. Once down at the bottom, we jumped back in the mini bus and headed back to their restaurant, where we had some amazing lunch. The options were fish or vegetarian soup, alongside hot drinks, and some waffles and jam. The lady who makes the food was so passionate about her cooking, and loved coming out to chat to everyone. She was so friendly, and so appreciative of everyone coming to their business - we loved meeting her, and her food was brilliant! Overall, I couldn’t recommend the experience enough. From start to finish, staff were so brilliant, so friendly, and made the experience for us (we didn’t catch his name, but the gentleman we spoke to about the northern lights and said how he loves his job as he gets to put a smile on peoples faces everyday was amazing!) The views that you get to see are nothing we had ever seen before, and are so grateful for the opportunity! Thank you so much to the XLyngen family for making the last day of the year (we came on the 31st of December) such a memorable day!

A cozy place for relaxing after a long day out in Lyngen Alps nature. Popular among touring skiers. They have great food (a shame we did not try but it looks gorgeous!), magnificent view of the fjord, a very relaxing sauna (private booking available) and optional hot tub. Tours and sports equipment rental available, of course book in advance as usual in Norway. You may even be able to spot Northern Light on a good day between Autumn and Spring. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Tip: Try drinking their tap water. Trust me it is LEGENDARY. Also don't be afraid to reach out to locals for advice, it cannot go wrong in Norway.
