The White Hart

Found this gem in 2023, and have been a regular visitor since, called in this week and found the menu is a lot smaller, with a lot of favourites missing, also gone are the sandwiches and baguettes, also the smaller size portions that my wife enjoys are no longer available, we decided to eat anyway, as the food has always been excellent. We both had the chicken,ham, leek pie mine with veg my wife with chips and peas the pie was small and thin with thick pastry and the filling what there was of it was very bland, the gravy seemed like it was water and gravy granules mixed together (no flavour) and we thought the chips were the frozen kind. We spoke to the couple next to us and they said it was going downhill, which is a shame as this pub was one of the best around, also noticed the prices have gone up (almost hotel prices). We also found out that it is new owners ( enough said). Will we go back ,i very much doubt it, very disappointing.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Lovely room with comfortable bed. Very approachable helpful staff. The pub is located in a very pretty little town with a bus service to nearby towns. The food was fabulous, my only problem was I couldn't clear my plate! Would not hesitate to return.
