Basic accommodation - used to be an old premier inn, good location, great food and service at the bar but accommodation needs updating. Rooms ok but bathroom v poor, a little neglected. Shower from the 70s and bits hanging off of the decor

There's quite a nice family feel to the hotel (we'd stayed 30 earlier) with ample free parking but it's very, very dated. Staff are lovely and very helpful however some serious upgrading is needed badly in the rooms. Our toilet flusher was very loose and it was difficult to flush. The cord on the kettle was about 12 inches and the only place to plug it in was directly behind the TV, which wasn't ideal! There wasn't enough tea, coffee, milk sachets either but the rooms were tended to by housekeeping every day. The signal in ****on is exceptionally bad and we couldn't manage to sign into the free cloud so we had a few days off from checking our phones. We had breakfast twice during our stay. The veggie sausages were so overcooked but apart from that it wasn't badly priced at £10.50 (which included the fairly measly continental choices). I would stay again as it's so close to family but I wish they'd spend some money where it really counts.

Had a fairly nice meal in the restaurant and the was conveniently near the petrol station and Tesco Express for take outs. Sadly the room was tired but you can’t expect much for £60. Entertainingly I woke in the night to the sound of dripping. Reason being that it was raining and water was coming through the roof just by the wardrobe. That explained the damp patch on the ceiling!

My wife never read the reviews .. I did .. to late .. The room Gulp .. the windows would not close but someone had tried to fix them as a dirty old lock was on the windowsill .. 2 single beds of different height pushed together .. The bathroom:)) don’t ask .. bath was growing mould around the edges … the shower never worked .. tiles around the toilet were broken and falling off … phew All we wanted was a room for the night as we were going to the F1 we expected to be ripped off and they certainly adjusted their prices .. If this was a £50 per night twin then no complaints but pay no more … The pub restaurant was very good , the food & service were all good quality no complaints Sadly let down by the dreadful accommodation Would never stay there again

Oh my goodness where do I start. The room was terrible. Had to sleep with patio door open all night because of smell. Not great on ground floor. The bathroom was a disgrace. Urine stains on floor. Bath and toilet disgusting. Ants running up and down walls in bathroom. We didn't have a shower or even a wash or clean our teeth. Carpet in the bedroom was so dirty. Covered in bits of tissue and other bits of goodness knows what.We couldn't wait to leave. If we had seen the room before we ate in the restaurant we wouldn't have stayed but unfortunately we had alcohol with our meal and couldn't drive. We left first thing in the morning. We were charged £114 for this horrible room. We definitely want a refund and have complained to the manager. The place should be demolished. No hygiene in place. Honestly we were so upset. Please don't stay here anyone. It didn't even deserve 1 star.

Don’t even stay here even if you no place to go. This is the worst place I have ever stayed in- For starters I arrived to poo stains on the floor, damp all up the walls and questionable white stains in the bathroom, it was like being in a horror film. To which I then moved rooms which was also terrible but no poo this time. It was extremely run down, the pub on the other hand was brilliant and food was delicious. What a shame about the hotel and thinking back I should have slept in my car. Book at your peril.

This is a relatively cheap place to stay and suited us for our three night stay. As requested, we were given a ground floor room and all was OK. We were told that It is due for some refurbishment and one of the bedside lights just flashed but that was our only criticism. The bed is huge- super king size I guess- and was very comfortable. Our son and his wife with the two girls also liked their room and stay. Staff are pleasant and helpful and all was very clean. Adequate free parking adjacent to the room made life easier for us. Good TV and tea tray but wi fi could be better. All in all good value for money and included a very good breakfast.

Admittedly the place was only £45 a night but we booked as our previous hotel cancelled and we had a wedding nearby. The place was just run down and dirty. Water marks all over sink unit, shower we couldn’t use in the morning as the knob on top of the taps to change from bath to shower was broken off and missing. Am thankful we had showers at home before we left so all we did was get changed there. Toilets stained underneath, holes in back of bathroom door where clearly a hook was once placed. The windowsill in bedroom had a very questionable brown stain smeared on it. The cleaners clearly do nothing but make the bed! Bed were cheap and nasty felt every spring in the mattress worst nights sleep ever. Would not stay again or recommend.

We stayed here for one night after a wedding nearby. I wanted to check in early and initially found it difficult to contact the hotel. Chef & Brewer's AI assistant 'Claire' either cut me off, tried to book me a table, or passed me to a central reservation team. Eventually I did speak to a person at the hotel who confirmed that we could check in early before heading to the wedding. The rooms are run down, but what do you expect for the price? For a cheap one night stay they were OK. The room initially given to my son had a window that would not close (the frame needed fixing). However, the receptionist quickly found an alternative room for him. After returning from the wedding we had a good nights sleep (I had been concerned about possible road noise from the A5, but this was not an issue.) In the morning we had a good cooked breakfast. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. No problem with check out - just drop the keys off at either the box outside the hotel or in the slot at reception.
