The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate

We stayed at deluxe room for two nights and it has a large space with outdoor garden. Breakfast was really delicious. Swimming pool is also the first impression of the hotel. From our arrival to the departure, the service provided by the staffs are really memorable. 100/10

Staying at The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate felt like stepping into the heart of Old Bagan’s soul. Unlike modern, impersonal hotels, this place carries two decades of charm, history, and quiet elegance. Its unbeatable location—just steps from Bagan’s most iconic pagodas—made every morning feel magical. What truly sets it apart, though, is the warmth of the staff. Their cheerful energy added a personal touch that made me feel not just welcome, but at home.

I really enjoyed this hotel and really glad I booked it. The location was perfect and central to all the best temples and pagodas. I had a travel snafu that rendered me to miss my connecting flight to Myanmar and having to check-in a day and a half later, and the hotel was gracious and flexible enough to accommodate my delay. Check-in was smooth, and the room is absolutely wonderful. It was large, and the hotel grounds and pool are beautiful and clean. My room had a little patio with a couple of chairs to help make tea a wonderful start to my morning. The bathroom and shower were clean and the water pressure was good. Hot water was plentiful. There is even a mini fridge to cool my drinks and preserved the fruits that I brought. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, so even if you have a sunrise hot air balloon flight, you'll still make it on time for a hot breakfast, which consisted of bread, rice, sausage, sticky rice, tea leaf salad, soup, various fruits, seasoned veggies, fried stuff, and stir-fry noodles. I found out on my second day there that you could ask for eggs on request. The hotel staff was warm, friendly, and accommodating, and there was always a smile on everyone's faces. Wi-Fi was free and relatively fast, which did the trick as I had been lacking Internet connection for a couple of days. I loved this hotel and everything it had to offer, including a check out time of 12 PM. I highly recommend booking here if you'll be in Bagan. Best hotel in the best location possible!

The Hotel at Tharabar Gate in Bagan is a quaint and charming property situated right at the edge of the old city, making it an ideal location for exploring the historical wonders of Bagan. Our family had an incredible stay here, and the hospitality was truly exceptional. Special mention goes to Ms. Nila and the front desk and welcoming staff, who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The F&B team, particularly Ko Kin Tu and the dining staff, were exceptionally thoughtful, accommodating our dietary preferences with a menu that catered to everyone’s tastes, including our kids. The service overall was outstanding, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The property itself is beautiful, featuring a lovely swimming pool and dining area that our family enjoyed. The spacious and charming rooms perfectly blend the heritage of Bagan with modern comforts, offering a unique and relaxing stay. The spa was also great!! Additionally, the hotel’s location is very accessible to all the main sites, allowing for easy exploration of the area. For families looking for a mix of cultural immersion and comfort, The Hotel at Tharabar Gate provides a delightful and memorable experience, combining heritage, modern amenities, and exceptional service. Lovely place to stay. Very quiet, lovely rooms surrounded by gardens. Nice restaurant, staff helpful and friendly. I had a tour guide for visiting the pagodas and we did this mostly in the morning as it was so hot. Would definitely stay here again.

Best location, quiet, they have ever6I need here. I wanted an ebike to explore temples a d within a couple minutes it was there out front. The food and dinning is good. Big rooms and a swimming pool. If there is a bummer it's that there only like 5 TV channels so laying g around after a hot day don't count on any western news on TV, might not be there fault and probably the same elsewhere. Please note: credit cards are rarely accepted and most ATM are closed down. Also, it's super safe here.
