Seguro regresaremos.

My stay at the Casa do Sierra Azul was perfect in so many ways. I was there with my sister and we met a group of women for an artist retreat. Angel was so accommodating and the staff was super friendly. We stayed on the bottom floor in room 7 for 8 days. Each room was different and unique. The bar and restaurant were right outside our room in the courtyard which was nice. Gabriel, the bartender was really nice and made a really good margarita. Housekeeping did a great job everyday and we always came back to a clean and tidy room. There was a smell coming out of the drain in the bathroom but I believe this is due to the age of the building. None of our friends had this probably in other rooms so it may be just room 7. We were able to walk to many boutiques, restaurants, and museums. Tre street food was delicious. The locals are overall very friendly. Oaxaca is a good place to experience Mexican culture, food, and art. Casa de Sierra Azul is a good place to come back, relax and enjoy a Margarita.

Location is a few blocks from the busy zócalo and zona peatonal. Full of action, restaurants and shops. 24 hr. Front desk service and complimentary, free valet parking. Two stories, first floor with a centrally located courtyard and restaurant, 2nd floor also has spacious patios with umbrellas. Room was spacious with a large shower and big screen smart tv. Loved the place and the friendly staff.

The hotel has some good things to offer. The central courtyard has maintained its feeling of antiquity and is thus quite beautiful. And the few fully modernized rooms on the top floor are attractive and comfortable. But for us, the bad outweighs the good. We were a group of seven, and had reserved four rooms. The dates for one of the rooms had to be changed after we had reserved, and one of our party called to make sure that everything was in order (she speaks near-native Spanish) and she was assured that it was. When we arrived, we found that our reservation had been totally bungled. Two of us had reserved modernized rooms with a terrace; we got one of those, while the other party was put in a dark, rather dank room in the corner of the first floor. The third party landed in a room somewhere between these extremes. And the fourth room had only been reserved for one night and not the four we had booked; that person had to find another hotel. When I showed the manager our reservation numbers, he claimed that our friend who had spoken with him on the phone had made these changes and in fact *cancelled* one of the rooms. To add insult to injury, one of our party was told on the morning of our next to last day that they would have to change rooms because another party had reserved their room. They weren't happy, but they complied. When we all returned from a day's activities, it turned out that the hotel staff had asked the *wrong party* to change rooms and now wanted my wife and me to make yet another change. This is where we put our foot down. The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff is very mixed. The bartender is charming, and one of the ladies at the front desk is helpful. But, in general, the staff is neither helpful nor notably friendly--judge by the standards of most Oaxaca hotels and restaurants. If you do go, insist that you stay in one of the modernized rooms on the top floor. And get your reservation in writing! With a professional management, some needed renovation, and better staff training, this hotel might live up to its four star rating. Just for reference, we are frequent visitors to Mexico; we have been to Oaxaca for three of the last four years.

Our room was spacious, I loved the courtyard right outside our room. Breakfast was good. However, our room door didn't close so it was always open (anyone could enter), and you could sometimes hear people right outside. It is an average hotel.

The place is average. The rooms at the top are not suitable for a family. The toilet doors do not fit, the toilets stink. This means a family you are constantly walking down 2 flights of stairs to use a public bathroom. Construction work directly outside the room, workmen peering into the room, noisy and smelly. Complained multiple times, manager absent. Offered 105 peso discount on a room that cost hundreds of dollars. We left a night early, no discount, no apology. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Our room was very comfortable and charming. I loved the beautiful courtyard where we could drink, meet and eat. Breakfast was very good and there were a lor of choices. The problems? Mold in the room and at the last night I paid our bar and restaurant bill at the bar but apparently it didn’t get recorded and there was a rather hostile scene as we were leaving. I felt I was being accused of theft. Not a good way to say goodbye to guests

My husband and I spent three full weeks in Oaxaca City in January 2022 and we are so happy we chose Casa de Sierra Azul as our home base. The hotel staff made sure our every need was met and we felt truly delighted and honoured to stay there. We booked our room on *********** and the first room we were assigned was very small on the first floor. After our first night we spoke with the hotel manager and asked for a larger room as we were planning to stay for three weeks. And we are so glad we asked. We were assigned a large, beautiful room on the terrace level and it was so great! We had a beautiful seating area just outside our room where we could bask in the sun and read a book. The staff are so kind. The food in the courtyard restaurant is very good, and breakfasts daily (included with the room) were hearty and delicious. We recommend Casa Azul as an elegant home away from home in the heart of Oaxaca City— steps away from the zocalo.

We stayed for two nights at Casa Sierra Azul and were very pleased! The hotel is centrally located and our room was comfortable and spacious. We stayed on the top floor of the hotel, which had an excellent terrace to sit and relax. The shower was large and plenty warm, and the details of the room were well-appointed. The courtyard of the hotel is great for relaxing, and the breakfast was delicious. There were stringent measures taken for Covid 19 (sanitized upon entrance each time to the hotel and all staff wore masks). Hotel was also happy to store luggage for us until our flight and called a taxi for us at our departure time later in the day. Would recommend!
