I didn't see the reviews untill after booking here and I'm a but confused to why there are so many negative reviews for this establishment, I arrived with my partner and we where kindly greeted in by the receptionist, she seemed very welcoming and polite , she showed us where everything was and took us to our room, the room was warm and clean , it wasn't 5 star material obviously but it was better than expected after reading the reviews, our TV worked aswell , we had a shared bathroom which was clean , all in all the place was fine for an overnight stay in oban, I think the price was a bit expensive for what you get we paid 89 for the room without breakfast , but it was more of around £70 mark.

We were not expecting the ritz by booking this guest house but...was expecting something a bit more than we got .we booked the weekend in oban as a couple for a birthday treat and was so unsatisfied with absoloutly everything .it was tattered ,dirty, scruffy and old fashioned and extremely uncomfortable .there was dust ,dirt and marks everywhere, curtains hanging off the rail and Were dirty, the kettle had to be held down to get it to boil ,mattress was so old and creaked and springs popped everytime we moved ,couldn't plug in hair dryer or any chargers either as the 1 of 2 sockets was right down on floor so it didn't allow any plug to fit in .the bathroom was tattie and dirty with old lino as you could see huge piece missing round toilet plus had to walk in sideways plus turning taps on flooded the place ..the list goes on .it hadn't been cleaned at all the bathroom was filthy and so We're skirting ,thick dust on bedside lamps also .I'm no perfect by any means but when you pay money to stay somewhere regardless of price I feel owners should make some sort of effort .don't get me wrong the lady who did take our money was very lovely but this guest house was an absoloute nightmare and I couldn't wait to leave it .if your desperate for a bed for the night it may suit but a weekend away no.owners need to put some effort in to this place

Staff present just for taking money and she was really unfriendly. The room was a bed size and whit low quality forniture, pillows and mattress were old and uncomfortable. Breakfast to forget. The price Is too High for the quality

We didn't expect much and yet we were still disappointed. Rundown, shabby but not chic, no staff present at all. The only person I saw was when I checked in (check-in times very limited) and she was both unfriendly and unhelpful, a winning combination. The room was bare, the bedlinen didn't match, the curtains were hanging off the rail. The pillows and mattress were uncomfortable, the towels were at least present and I take that as a bonus. The shared bathroom was usable, but tatty. 'Breakfast included' was as basic as you could imagine, with the cheapest of ingredients. I would definitely say more of hostel than a guesthouse, but at £99 for one night? Hardly a bargain! We definitely would not return to Glengorm or any of the other 3 'Victorian Villas' in the same sad row......next time we would be much more organised and book well in advance so this wasn't the only option open.

Unfortunately, this is not the place for me. It is so rundown, dark, old fashioned and dingy that it started to depress me. I actually felt embarrassed as a Scotsman that we allow businesses to provide this kind of accommodation to people who could be arriving from other countries and they may think that this is the norm that Guesthouse owners provide. Please be clear, most guesthouse owners in my experience are a proud bunch. The price paid for this accomodation did not reflect what it was actually worth. I have paid a whole lot less for accomodation that is immaculate, bright, vibrant and warm and that the owners could be proud of. A little bit of regular investment would go a long long way at this place. You do get a breakfast here but I wouldn't waste your time. It is a DIY job that is laid out the night before and not very satisfying. There is plenty of eating places that provide lots of brekkie options and they're reasonably close by. That is what we done and it was fine. The dining room is crammed with tables and chairs and lots of old junk furniture that just restrict any sort of free movement. There is no parking at this bed & breakfast but there is paid parking nearby. There is virtually no contact with the people that run it other than to collect the money for your stay and looking at the state of the place, that is all they're interested in. Be aware, they own the St Annes next door as well. As you walk through the front door you will see the biggest pile of laundry that is so high it is almost touching the ceiling. WIFI just doesn't work. Room is tiny, but does have an ensuite. Shower is covered in mould, I half guessed this would be the case before I even got to the room. Some rooms don't have an ensuite. TV is tiny to match the room. The floors throughout need some attention as they seem all uneven and creaky. This means you can hear the creaking everytime someone walks by your room. The bed was very uncomfortable and for some reason creaked every time you moved. There is plenty of other businesses nearby that provide accomodation that is far far better than this and the cost is not much more. Many others provide parking and include a breakfast menu so when you take these costs into consideration then there is virtually no difference in the price. This is a guess, but I think the last time any money has been spent on upgrading the interior of the building would have been about 1987. The only positives I could come up with is that it is reasonably near the centre of town and the heating worked. This place is definitely worth avoiding. The fact that it still had vacancies in July tells its own story.

We enjoyed how warm the room stayed, considering it was chilly and windy outside. The room also had a sink in it which was very convenient. The staff was short and rude with us and unaccommodating, which is our only complaint of the facility. It is a very bare bones place so if you are simply looking for a place to rest your head at the end of the day, this is a good choice.

Good location, but not great. They promote online, and with a sign at the guesthouse as ensuite—not true. No service whatsoever. Light continental breakfast is about right—a small box of cereal, sliced bread, butter, jam, milk, instant coffee, which had no flavor, awful orange juice. So, when booking, if you want ensuite, get confirmation in writing that your room includes a full bath, with shower, toilet, and sink, otherwise you’ll share with many rooms. Ask to remove the costs for the light continental breakfast—it’s not worth it. Go to Weatherspoons for a generous hot breakfast with tea, coffee or cocoa, for the same price. Get this reduced price in writing. Weatherspoons is not close, but not too far to walk to anyway. The shared shower wasn’t too bad, but you’re asked, with signs, to clean the bathroom, and are given spray, but no rags to clean with. There is one shared hand towel in the shared bathroom. You are given another in your room, but must remember to bring it when you go to the toilet. Don’t lock your key in the room by mistake, as there’s no staff around to rescue you, no matter the time of day. Expect your room to not be as pictured online. They must use their only attractive room in their photos. Expect to be pressured with several attempts, and with various excuses, to pay with cash. I likely would not stay there again, but it will meet some people’s purposes.

Light Continental breakfast menas very light, it is not a real breakfast, it is just something to distract you. Regular coffee, milk, fruit yogurt, Kellogg, orange juice and toast. Nothing especial. Very loud street. No room service was provided.
