"The hotel is located on st Lawrence gap which has a few clubs and restaurants. It can get quite noisy at night. If you opt for the sea view apartment you are less likely to hear the club on the opposite side of the road. The room itself is great, there is a kitchen where you can cook your breakfast and make tea, a working tap, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave. The balcony and the view is lovely. Woke up each morning looking out onto the blue water and blue skies! I went with my friend and so we had a double bed each which is very comfortable. The shower is a bit slow with water but if you run it for 3-4 minutes the water will get warm. We didn’t opt for the breakfast so cannot comment on what the food is like. Overall positive, my only complaint is beware when ordering taxi they quote in US dollars and not Barbadian dollars. The female receptionist misled me despite me asking her twice is the price quoted Barbadian dollar and she said yes. Then when we finished the taxi ride we were told it was in US dollar and not Barbadian dollars. I think that is a fundamental error by the receptionist and cost me unnecessarily. For that the hotel did not deserve a 5 star. In terms of location it is good but expect noise as you are directly opposite a nightclub called halo that is very noisy at the weekends especially the dj and his microphone shouting into it. The island is very small so everything is not far. It is worth hiring a car to get around the island otherwise the taxi fare will be expensive. A taxi fare from at Lawrence gap to the north of the island would cost you 120 Barbadian dollars one way. The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool and private chill out area and a restaurant to order drinks. Would I stay here again? Yes I think i would stay here again."

"We had an excellent time on our trip to Barbados! Everyone we encountered throughout the island and at the Bougainvillea were just the nicest people. So polite and helpful. The Bougainvillea is well maintained and clean. The rooms are spacious and had everything we needed. Staying at the Bougainvillea, you can just step right out on the beach. There are 2 restaurants on the premises, and the food was good. We will definitely be back!"

"Dover Beach hotel is a very adequate mid range choice. The rooms are large and cleaned to a high standard and the facilities are in keeping with a mid sized hotel. We found the reception staff in the main personable and friendly. Location for Lawrence Gap and the airport is good but a car is advisable if you want to visit the West side of the island.. All things considered we enjoyed our short stay at this hotel."

"We enjoy the daily breakfast.the tidy hotel and pool. But when checking the hotel the receptionist should enlightened guest of the near by restaurant and supermarket cause person are new the the place. With the mini fridge and microwave I think at least plates and culinary and cups should be provide for the guest in case of have to bring back food to the hotel."

"L’hôtel est propre, grand et assez calme. Seul bémol, ils font très attention aux styles des personnes voyageant dans cet hôtel. Il faut absolument très bien s’habiller à chaque repas, au risque d’être refusé à l’entrée. Le personnel est super sympa."

"Shared dormitory doesn't fit ”deluxe” category: no towel, no safe box, no A/C control available by default. Good things are: kettle, friedge in the room. TV may be important for some guests. Breakfast was minimal, no tea nor coffee. Kitchen is good, interior of the house is beautiful. Close to the coast and the local public transportation station. Nice stay, in current setup feels as overpriced."

"Very nice smaller hotel without overcrowding. Good generally good. More international beer brands expected for the price point. Service generally good; minibar not restocked. Guidance on dinner bookings hot and miss (we were booked into a restaurant one evening that was closed!)"

"The Hotel Maxwell del Mar was very comfortable and extremely well positioned. We had everything we needed and would definitely stay there again. Although the restaurant and bar are only open over the weekend, there are plenty of excellent other establishments very close by. Also the room is well equipped with a fridge, microwave oven and kettle so you can provide for yourself if you want a night in. The local beach, which is stunning, is Maxwell Beach and is only a very short walk from the hotel."
