We were a group of 8 bike riders. We loved our arvo beverages and dinner at this pub, owned by a gorgeous ,hardworking couple. Like most establishments in the World they have been hit by Covid and difficulty finding staff. Go and support them.

If you want to stay in a traditional country hotel this the place for you. We had a room with an ensuite but you can have a shared bathroom. The hotel has wonderful lounge and dining room. The hotel is packed with historical items and pictures. The food is pleasant and typical pub food. Breakfast is a good continental breakfast. There is a tap room outside at the back where you can sample beers. Very helpful staff

Had dinner here on our first night riding the Otago Rail Trail. Typical small town pub with a mix of locals and visitors. The hosts have been there for only four months but are making a success of it based on our experience. They introduced my wife to a red wine that has now become her favourite - from Gibbston Valley so keeping it local. Food was very tasty and plentiful the latter being very helpful given the calories we were burning on the bike. Well worth a stop.

Visited the hotel for afternoon drinks and dinner while riding the ORT. The service and food was exceptional. Especially the fish and chips and brownies. I wish the new owners all the luck in their new business. Thanks for making our adventure an awesome experience.

Great service from Chantelle. Delicious food. The picky bits option for the little ones was a hit. New owners were lovely and we wish them all the best for the new venture. Definitely would come again

Came here for a night and dinner as a stop on the ORT. Twin room was small, but functional. The electric blankets on the bed were a nice touch. Some rooms had to use shared bathrooms. The meal downstairs was good, with beautiful bbq ribs. It sounded like there were a couple of intoxicated people in the bar, but nothing too dramatic. Breakfast was very basic. It very sad to see police machines in a rural pub (or any pub). Very unnecessary.

Excellent food. The hotel we had booked was closed due to Covid and this venue catered so well at late notice for a large number of visitors with one days notice for dinner. Thank you so much! If you are passing through on the rail trail, it's well worth popping in !!

We stayed here two years ago whilst doing the ORT so looked forward to our latest visit. Sorry to say that it wasn't as good as last time. I suspect that that has much to do with getting trained staff as when we booked in a rather apologetic young guy said it was only his second day and really didn't know what he had to do. So we showed ourselves up to our room after first sorting out which room had been allocated to us. It was actually a much nicer room than last time as it had an en suite. Our meal though was not that great. The fish and chips were not a patch on similar meals we'd had in other areas of Otago and my spare ribs were quite ordinary. Again the staff were very young with one young lass unable to take alcohol orders because she was underage.I guess this must be a real issue with hospitality places throughout the country. Would we stay here again? Yes, i think we would as i feel that country establishments like this need to be supported and i know from past experience, that they CAN do better with the food.

This was such a great country pub to stop in for a drink and dinner. We had booked ahead as we were a group of 8 doing the cycle trail. The host was outstanding and even took us through his brewery and bar room out the back of the pub. The locals are friendly and had a great yarn with us. The meals we had were all very good and great sized country portions. We reccomend stopping in to this country pub.
