Fairfield Inn & Suites Auburn Opelika

Not what I expected! I’ve stayed in multiple hotels around this area due to frequent business trips. I thought I would try this hotel for one of my stays, and it will probably be the last. The hotel had just completed an entire carpet cleaning of every room and every floor—which was a good thing— but the carpet was soaking wet in my room from the time I checked in until the next morning. It would have been nice to break the cleaning up either into days or floors and put guests on the floors not being serviced. For a Marriott I guess I expected a little more in the way of ammenities, as well. There was only a small bar of soap in the bathroom and the dispensers in the shower were almost empty. The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a great variety of choices.

Well, the hallways have NO AIR circulating, no air, and no hvac for cooling or it's turned off, ho hvac, the room smelled really bad, the hvac had a musty burning smell like the compressor was burned up, the hallways smelled, I would not stay here again. The outside may look nice and the lobby, but looks are deceiving, & the elevator was nasty & grimy in the openings and around the jam areas disgusting

The food was awesome! The service during breakfast was very welcoming!

Stick to the Suites – Standard Room Was a Letdown We’ve stayed at this Fairfield Inn several times over the past 13 years and usually have a great experience. However, this visit was disappointing. We typically book a King Bed Suite, which has always been quite nice. This time, we decided to save a few dollars and booked a standard King Room—a decision we regretted. Upon entering, we found the two-drawer chest blocking movement, even for our smallest rolling suitcase. Though there seemed to be plenty of space, we had to lift our luggage over it just to get around. Storage was also an issue—the chest was the only drawer space in the entire room. It may be fine for one person, but not for two. We had to hang up clothes that we normally wouldn’t just to make do. Another frustration was the lack of bedside outlets. There was only one, meaning I had to bring my own extension cord to use my CPAP. Adding outlets on both sides of the bed seems like a simple fix. Noise was also a problem for the first time. A traveling sports team was staying at the hotel, and their music was exceptionally loud. I reported it to the front desk early in the evening, and to their credit, it was quiet by 10:00 PM. Still, the thin walls didn’t help. One more issue: not enough towel bars in the bathroom. Reusing towels to conserve water is fine, but there needs to be enough space to hang them up properly. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and helpful as always. Final takeaway: If you stay here, book a suite.
