Sabin is a beautiful resort property t But it has some issues... 1) Guests should have been informed of the pool closure. However, Sabin didn't mention anything about their pool being closed. We didn't find out until we entered the lobby, and looked toward the pool area. It's true, the pool is closed for renovations for the next three months, from Oct thru Dec, 2024. 2) Sabin website claims they offer laundry service. But when we asked at the front desk they said, "Sorry, we don't have laundry service." 3) WIFI is a total nightmare! It constantly crashes, and they have new user names and passwords every day. Honestly Sabin, you are making the WIFI access procedure way more complicated than it needs to be! We normally love staying at Sabin. We love the amazing resort-like grounds and the incredible view, since Sabin is right on Ormoc Bay. But these issues made our stay not so great at this beautiful property.

I originally booked a room at the Sugarland Suites in Ormak. It was such a terrible place that I stayed there for only an hour before a friend recommended the Sabin Resort Hote; which, compared to the Sugarland Suites was a heave/hell comparison. While Sabin was much better, it is also a place that I would have to think hard about before staying there again. The facility borders on Ormoc Bay and is visually stunning. Unlike some reviewers, I found the hotel staff to be professional, polite, and accommodating. I was disappointed that the room did not have a refrigerator to keep the water cool, nor did it have a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Furthermore, there was no on-site laundry service for guests. I stayed there for 11 days so I needed such services and ended up hiring a Tricycle to take me to the other side of town to a laundry that could get my things back to me in two days. Despite being a beautiful place, it is old and shows signs of not being well maintained. The wooden floors in the room were warped and near the sliding glass door and the bathroom door, the floor was discolored and showed signs of dry rot due to unchecked water damage. In my opinion, the worst thing about this place is the hotel was the Restaurant. It appears to be the newest building on the property. It is open to the elements on three sides and diners are often molested by flies, mosquitoes, and birds during the day. Also, anyone sitting close to the edges of the building is bound to get wet when it rains. But the absolute worst thing about the restaurant was the service and the quality of the food. Nothing was adequately cooked, either being under or overcooked and not very tasty...except for greaseless fried chicken which I had almost every day until I found a wonderful restaurant nearby called Marta's. They have a Michelin-trained chef and all of the meals I had there were excellent. The service at the restaurant gets a failing grade because the waiters often forgot what you ordered and you either had to remind them or realize when you finished eating that you have not been served the item you requested. On four occasions, I ordered french fries with my meal, the first time the waiter forgot to place my order in the kitchen, and the second time they were well undercooked -like eating raw potato sticks. I let it pass the first time after reasoning it was an oversight, the second time I complained because I thought it was incompetence, I also complained the third time because if it happened three times in a row, it was willful and not just incompetence.

We spent 4 nights here on a Seminar with my co-workers of LGU-La Paz, Leyte. Everything was good, the location of the hotel have a nice view over Ormoc Bay and the extension of Camotes Sea, As for the room it is excellent and comfortable. The Hotel staff are amazing and accomadating, The pool was nice especially at the evening. The restaurant served great foods and in different cuisine. The only thing needs to be improveis the Wifi connection, tjis seems to bean issue for us because we use internet for some of our activity. Overalll its a nice to stay for business or famiky trip. THANKS and well be going back again

We stayed at Sabin Resort of Ormoc, Leyte, PI most of the month of August 2024, monsoon season in the Philippines. Our deluxe room just off the lobby was spacious, clean and well appointed. The staff was amazing from Dante the bellman (who is more a concierge and assisted us with great local knowledge and attentive help) The hotel provided a shuttle to take us to and from the Port area ferry terminal (a taxi would be impossible to find and one of the numerous "Tricycle" vehicles too small to carry us and lots of baggage) The view of the Comotes Sea and islands in and beyond is gorgeous and always active with ships, ferries, fishing boats, weather and sunsets. The grounds are excellently kept and peaceful. The pool is beautiful and again well maintained, Mario's Restaurant was alfresco or inside dinning pleasure with attentive and gracious staff especially our frequent server, Joseph, and a diverse menu. Very relaxing. The port, civic center, grand mercado, shopping etc is an easy 45min walk. (we walked there many mornings while still mild and shopped) You can take a readily available "Tricycle" anywhere in town for a very reasonable price. In general the resort and Ormoc reminds me of the way Hawaii (my birth place) was 100 years ago-tropical paradise. Ormoc is the city of beautiful people and mild adventure. I guess I have fallen in love.

Hotel got a great ambiance to the Ormoc bay. We have been visiting probably more than 20 times swimming, lunch and dinner in the resort. I really like the atmosphere of swimming pool and restaurant. But. First time I had a room in the hotel. Deluxe, 3200 pesos/night. No drinking water, no kettle, no coffee, no minibar or refrigerator. No foot towel no reliable Wi-fi. The price is unbelievable high! It should be not more than 2000 pesos of the room equipped alike boarding house. Wi-fi is the most irritating upon my long travel history. Everytime you go to swimming pool or restaurant area new log in is required with a new wi-fi codes. They should make rooms worth of the money urgently.

PROS: - Room was big and clean. Had 2 queen-sized beds and a lot of space to boot. - TV and aircon were modern already. - Wide selection of food in their resto and fairly-priced too. CONS: - Lighting needs to be updated. Yellow light makes the room look so dark and *******. - Shower had 3 levers (hot, cold, selector). All 3 were different!! - Shower door was difficult to open.

Everything was good. The staff were very kind. The swimming pool was spacious, the view was good, the room was big, and everything was good. But it was hard because the faucet (water control) was not very good. There is no refrigerator in the regular room. It is don't even have a hair dryer. There's no a safe deposit box. It is a hotel frequently used by locals. Other than that, everything is in good condition.

My two weeks vacation to Ormoc visiting see family so at least ten visits to daily swimming, my daughter swimming school or dinner in the resort. Pros. Garden and swimming pool areas are both very well kept. The foods in the restaurant is awesome. Teriyaki chicken fillet, taste is probably the best chicken I have ever been eaten before. Cook needs a salary boost. Swimming fee 150 pesos/ pax very reasonable . In the weekdays resort is very relaxing place. Cons. Local people arrives to a dinner in the weekends, very seldom paying swimming fee. Swimming the outdoor clothing is more common than using a proper swimming suit. I never see anybody taking a shower before jumping to the pool. Water quality can't be fine. No Supervisor. Ice cubes doesn't belong to the beer. Double shot of Fundador brandy is smaller than single shot in Cebu but costs the same. Drinks are extremely minimize.

We were visiting to the resort more than 10 time's upon my 3 weeks vacation in the Ormoc city. Mostly spending sunny days in the pool and enjoying restaurant services or visiting dinner in the hotel. Swimming fee was 150p/ person, reasonable my opinion. Pool and garden are both really nice. Pool bar has lack of comfortable seats and table's mostly reserved to bigger groups. What I miss was music to the bar. Many locals are visiting to swimming and what is very peculiar hotel staff let people swim with outwears. Not so hygienic at all. Restaurant food was nice but service very slow and many times food arriving to table already cold. Once we waited our order more than 50 minutes. Lack of well working cr services.
