My wife and I stayed here for just one night in mid-September, ‘22. We were traveling through Bohemia by car and wanted a place that would make a convenient stopover to visit Konipiste Castle. The hotel is a reasonable walk from the entrance (there is also a tourist train that stops in the public parking area adjacent to the hotel’s own parking area). It is a short drive from Benesov, where there are other accommodation options. The hotel is rustic, with a forest resort atmosphere. It is likely a popular place in summer but we were there in the off season and perhaps the only guests. The hotel has a large restaurant that is attached, likely a frequent lunch stop for tour groups going to the castle, but it is only open during the day off season so we had to eat dinner elsewhere. We found the closest place (Stara Mysterna) was a short drive into the castle grounds (the front desk clerk told us incorrectly that we couldn’t drive and had to walk – she may have meant that ordinarily parking would be a problem). We were upgraded to a large suite (room 201) that had been recently redone. It was huge, with two bedrooms plus a living room area with sofa and coffee table. There was even a play area for kids. The king bed was comfortable, and there were two twin beds in the second bedroom. We had two night stands, just one with an outlet for charging. The main bedroom area had a dresser, small refrigerator, and a coffee maker. The tiled bathroom was large with a shower. Wifi was strong and fast. Our main complaint about the room was that it was very cold the night we were there and the central heating for the hotel was not turned on. The breakfast was served in the bar and was marginal, with a minimal selection of fruit and other items. This was likely due to the small number of guests, so it might be more adequate during the summer season. All in all we have somewhat mixed feelings about the Konipiste. Despite its convenient location we recommend considering other options if your main goal is to visit the castle.
