Happy Valley Hotel

Absolutely horrible service! Came to this pub as an easy dinner as a group of eight, as we had just gone swimming in a nearby river. They made us sit outside (reasonable as some of us were in our wet bathers) and we ordered dinner probably twenty minutes to half an hour after we sat down. The owner had a grumpy attitude and said we could not have our food and drinks on the same tab even though the nice man at the bar said it would be fine. Then she asked us to hurry up ordering because there were a lot of people waiting. Dinner took FOREVER to arrive. When it finally arrived (probably an hour after ordering) they forgot to bring our garlic bread and tomato sauce that we specifically asked for. Then the owner who was serving us said that we didn't order it even though we clearly double checked our order earlier. When they finally brought out the sauce our kid who asked for it was already finished their meal! The garlic bread was way too oil but it was ok. The food was average and the owner and her husband were extremely rude. When we asked about why it took so long the man said it wasn't busy and then he said it was busy and he was just clearly just making up a story. when we finally left, we were suggested not to come back again by the husband. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Went here last night for dinner with 14 others, i tried to book the side dining room and was told it does not accommodate our size group although they then placed a large group in the room I requested when I had made the booking 6 weeks earlier, disappointed. My and my husbands meal of salmon and salad was the size of an entree, we both asked for no chips but I requested a decent sized salad instead and still got the “ side salad” portion. Was once a brilliant place to eat, no specials available, ordinary pub food, will not be back. We’re Local, so have been here a number of times, so my review is based on meals over the last few years and our meal last night, perhaps a change if ownership may have changed the once great menu.

The Happy Valley Hotel In Ovens is always a great place to dine. It’s on the bike track just out of Myrtleford. The steak is mouthwatering and the service fantastic. Great coffee van out the front. Great stopover on the way to Bright/ mountains
