Sandaway Suites & Beach

I just wanted to share how much we enjoyed our recent stay. What an amazing location! The serene environment was exactly what we needed for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. I must give a special shoutout to Ben, who couldn’t have been more helpful as we made our last-minute reservations. The check-in process was a breeze, thanks to him. The room was very clean and comfortable. Choosing our favorite spot was a tough decision. It was a toss-up between the cozy screened-in porch and sitting out in the grass, overlooking the tranquil river. Both provided such a wonderful sense of peace and relaxation. Ben also gave us fantastic recommendations for dinner, which we thoroughly enjoyed. His local knowledge added an extra special touch to our stay. Thank you once again for a wonderful experience. We look forward to our next visit!

This place is special! We could not be more pleased with our room and the property overall. It's older but has a lot of character and is extremely clean with everything seemingly in working order. We would pay the nightly rate just for the chance to sit on the grounds overlooking the water. Scenery is breathtaking!

Instructions for entry to the waterfront property were sent by email. I was to arrive after office hours so directions where to park, what door to enter, where to find my room. The room key was in the door along with a generous welcome bag with water, snacks and brochures of the area, including the history of the Inn…Impressive attention to detail!! The rooms were well stocked with anything you might need. Will be back for sure!

The Sandaway may have charm and character because of its age. But it is nothing more than run down and dirty. The Sandaway has a very musty smell. I have stayed at many old Inn’s by the water that have charm and character. Most of them have been modernized yet keeping with the character, charm, and age of the house/Inn – and they do not smell like The Sandaway does. The decor needs to be changed. There are many ways to modernize this Inn and keep its charm. Light and airy is way more romantic than the dark paneled and wall papered walls. 3D ducks on a picture are nothing more than a dust collector – as this picture was in our room; not to mention it felt like something that belonged in a hunter’s lodge. Everything was dusty, including the entry and stairways. There were cobwebs on the stairway leading up to our room. I had to reach behind our bed to plug in my charger only to discover all the dust hanging on the walls and trim. I took the blow-dryer out of the case. It was corroded with other people’s hair products, making it extremely sticky and gross; not to mention the other person’s hair that was stuck to the blow dryer. It was absolutely disgusting. The dirt in the corners of the shower and flooring was unacceptable. There were also a couple of items that were out of place that are not in keeping with the elegance that this Inn should have had. An empty Costco box sat on the front steps for two days. There was an unused planter upstairs that was folded up and leaning against the wall. If it’s not being used, put it away. The rooms are overpriced compared to similar Inns in tourist locations. For the amount of money we paid for this room, I am shocked that they haven’t done more updates to the Inn and the rooms; nor are they paying for decent staff to care about the cleanliness of the room. We did not get the feeling that someone cares about and loves this place. The good: the room from the balcony was good, the balcony was cleaner than our room, we were provided with a nice assortment of teas/snacks and chairs along the beach were nice to sit on by the water, We would not stay here again, nor would we recommend it to anyone.

A quick trip to rest and refresh. This bucolic spot hit the mark!! Peaceful and quaint. We will return next season.

Peaceful and very relaxing (do nothing). Just sit outside near the lake, enjoy the sunshine and do some reading and talking. Go to nearby St, Michaels or Easton for some nice restaurants.
