Very comfortable and a great location. The reception and all the staff are very kind and welcoming. I have stayed here several times, and Rue Montorgueil is a buzzing street with great shops! Close to the Louvre and Chatelet Les Halles and many other places. Thank you very much. I look forward to my next visit.

I have paid over E1000 and am sleeping on an uncomfortable trundle. We arrived at 4.30pm, neither room ready (2pm check-in) - but insisted on full payment. We booked in March and booked the recommended inter-connecting rooms for our family of 5 (children 12, 10 and 4). When we got access to rooms after 5pm, they are not joined. So my wife and I cannot sleep in the same bed and need to split across rooms - me on trundle booked for the 4 year old. Manager said he could do nothing as fully booked. In second complaint we were offered breakfast. We have stayed twice before and know breakfast is a basic coffee and croissant. Don’t stay here.

The staff and management were charming and genuinely helpful with expert knowledge and recommendations. The hotel facilities and decor are rich and comforting.

Wallpaper is torn, carpet is worn through, bathroom lock was broken, insects on the floor, carpet was stained, lots of nude art that isn’t very family friendly, and we were locked out of the room repeatedly because the door was broken. Staff was somewhat responsive, but we had to ask for help several times before they would come upstairs to help with the door. The towels were frayed and had holes in them. When I asked at check out about the issues, there was no apology. They ignored my concerns. I emailed the manager to ask for help, they ignored me as well. I’ve truly never seen anything like this place being called a four star hotel. It’s baffling. Did I mention the funky smell? The location is good, but others are correct that it is very loud.

Don’t stay here. I never write a review but I don’t think anyone should stay here. Why? #1. Overpriced rooms ($2046 Euros for 4 nights). #2. Terrible beds (the mattress is very firm and dusty). We couldn’t sleep at all. #3. The extra bed or “twin” bed is a foldable bed with a very thin mattress). #4. The rooms are Extremely hot and dark. There is no air conditioning. However, they advertise it. #5. Electric problems (difficult to charge cellphones and other devices). #6. An old TV (1980’s). #7. Inconvenient shower (the shower head and drop elbow is close to the wall). #8. They didn’t let me cancel my booking for the last 2 days. #9. Noisy.

My husband and I booked 10 nights at this charming hotel. It is well located on the Rue de Montorgueil, an ancient cobblestone street packed with markets of all kinds selling items such as fruits, vegetables, wine, chocolate, pastries, and bread. There are loads of cafés and small restaurants filled with both families and young singles. The scene is fun and inviting. We chose this hotel on a recommendation from my husband’s colleague. While the room was small, the bathroom was large and modern. But the best part of our stay was the unfailingly friendly and helpful staff. We ate breakfast here every day, and it was delicious and substantial. We were able to choose from fresh fruit, omelets, a variety of fresh bread, juice, yogurt, cereal, and steaming hot café au lait. Our waitresses always seemed happy to see us and anxious to please. One of the front desk staff was especially helpful the time we realized we had left our wallet in our departing taxi. We dashed into the hotel lobby in distress, and the man who was at the front desk used our taxi receipt information to make some phone calls. I am happy to report that the taxi driver showed up a couple of hours later to return the wallet. I think the man at the first desk was almost as happy as we were. I’m writing this review on our last night, and am feeling sad about leaving this charming place and these lovely people.

We (two adults) stayed at the Hôtel Victoires Opéra at Rue Montorgueil in Paris for one night on July 10th – 11th. Expectations were high since the hotel is located on the oldest street in Paris, near just about everything, had four stars on the booking page and seemed – in pictures – to be worth every Danish crown. Unfortunately, looks online are deceiving and at this particular hotel hospitality seemed to had been left in the far reaching history of the surroundings. As such, we entered the lobby with our bags to check in and were met – not greeted – by a man who could have been part of any sketch on stereotypical rude Frenchness. Both of us have visited Paris and France several times before and have not meet this cartoon figure before but here he was. Loud sighs and little patience with a difficult credit card payment of the city tax seemed to be only part of this man’s troublesome work life. You would think he himself took care of just any task in the hotel since he didn’t find the strength to inform us on where the bar in the hotel – promised online and not seen or heard of since by any of us – was, when breakfast was served or you know, just wishing us a pleasant stay. French stems in great part from Latin, but the hotel director (as he presented himself on the phone when taking a call while speaking to us) must not have done his research on the origin or meaning of “hospitality”. Oh well, then on to entering the room! The friendly interpretation would be that minimalism is in style around here. The “already annoyed with the hotel director”-interpretation is that this room and hotel is a tourists’ trap offering more online than what you get. There was a bed, two nightstands, a TV, a fridge and one Nespresso-machine. Oh, and two power outlets hidden under a table with only one actually working. Missing was a chair, a suitcase stool, a toilet brush, any type of shelf in the shower and a non-leaking tap by the sink. The latter made everything wet in a second and left you underimpressed. We did not meet any other guests since we never fund the maybe-there-maybe-not bar and did not feel the need to join the mysterious breakfast. You could hear just about any little noise coming from the hallway and everywhere else. There was absolutely no need to even put your ears against the partially torn wall paper. Luckily, our stay was short. Maybe due to this shortness our cartoon-ish friend in the reception had not yet gained strength since us checking in and did not feel the need to wish us a nice travel home or just ask if we enjoyed the stay. Paris is wonderful. The French are much better than their reputation. The Hôtel Victoires Opéra is not wonderful and you should go somewhere else, pay less and have a smile from the reception, somewhere to place your suitcase and maybe even a toilet brush in the bath room. Goodbye and no “au revoir”, Hôtel Victoires Opéra.

book last minute, 2night june 13 to 15, 2022, €1400+. checked in then checked out same time, hotel is not what the photos show. the hotel room smells like mold and urine & dust small rooms bathtub drainage does not drain. still disputing return of payment on nonrefundable stay, we checked in went to the room then checked out immediately, was able to get back €28 for city tax so not sure why they are holding my credit card payment hostage *********** only provided booking option for nonrefund. did not stay a day in the hotel. you cannot pay for services not rendered. they want to give me a voucher for my next europe trip. not good enough. my sister also lost her voice due to strong smell in the room.
