ZZe-BWay Shack Hostel is in a fantastic location for visiting the whale sharks. If you speak to Ken at the hostel, he can help arrange the whale shark excursion, it cost me 500 pesos and was super easy to organize.
That said, I’d recommend only a one-night stay here. We were disturbed both nights by heavy goods vehicles passing by the hostel late at night, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, aside from the whale shark activity, there’s not much else around the hostel to keep yourself entertained.
A scooter is essential to travel to the local town for food or supplies. The hostel staff can help arrange a rental if you need one.
On the plus side, the room was clean and equipped with air conditioning, which made it comfortable for a short stay.
Overall, Way Shack Hostel is a practical and budget-friendly option for a quick stopover if you’re visiting the whale sharks, but it’s not ideal for a longer stay.

EE4062****The hotel is located 1 km north of the whale watching spot. The hotel has its own 24-hour cake shop, which is very cost-effective. 500 meters south of the hotel, there is a restaurant opposite the school. The sea view, food taste and value for money are all good. The boss was very hospitable and after paying some tips, he was responsible for picking us up and dropping us off. Another thing to note is that if you want to see whale sharks, it is best to queue up at 3:30 in the morning.

SSivillaNice, cheap place to stay. Right on the water and has a decent pool with bar and restaurant. About 15 minutes away from whale shark area. Only complaint is that the WiFi isn’t great... went in and out of service entire stay

HHEBEbeiThis is a newly opened hotel. The owner is *********. In the evening, you can order a glass of juice in the courtyard and sit by the pool to enjoy it. The facilities should be among the best among nearby hotels. Highly recommended.

MMichelle BrookesGreat spot for relaxing and being right by the water’s edge. Host is friendly and welcoming and will make sure you have everything you need or want. Not a lot of amenities and food is brought down from a local restaurant and is of a good standard.

GGuest UserVery helpful and friendly staff, inexpensive place to stay, definitely getting your money’s worth. Three different types of houses, a white one, a pink one and a few bamboo houses which are pretty cool to stay in, both literally and figuratively. Extremely comfy bed, breakfast included in our package was nice, and complimented by a lovely view over the ocean every morning.
The staff were lovely and extremely helpful,
They helped us to book out whale shark tour and also arranged a taxi for us back to Cebu city on our last day. Can’t give them enough credit for being great hosts. Would definitely come back if we’re ever in the area again.
