We were booked in two Alpinjuel rooms next to each other. We booked directly with the hotel many months in advance, and made it very clear we wanted air conditioning in our rooms, and these were the only room types with air conditioning. On arrival, we were told that or rooms had been "upgraded" to two bigger rooms without air conditioning. I was obviously not very happy with this and asked them to change us back, however the hotel had already sold the rooms that we had originally booked (and paid a nonrefundable deposit for), and was only able to offer us one of the rooms. As a result both our rooms were at the opposite ends of the hotel, and on different levels too. No compensation was offered and I had to fight for a late checkout (when I first asked they just told me that the manager was not in and I had to ask again the next day - they even wanted to charge me 35 Euros for the late checkout). In the end they only offered late checkout for one of the rooms so we had to pack and move all the items at the checkout time to one room. The person working at the front desk that evening was condescending and rude. At least the person working the next day was pretty nice. Overall the service recovery was very poor. The reason this isn't a one-star review is that the hotel is pretty nice. In the one room that had air conditioning, the air conditioning worked well and was cool (20c) despite a heat wave in the area. The pool, saunas, and food were also pretty good. The bed was comfortable, and the rooms were very clean.
