I spent two nights at Regent Hotel, having shared a room with my partner. The hotel is located south/ east of the bridge, meaning it is in a less central/ popular area of the city. This is ideal if you wish to have a quieter stay, but still at walkable distance (20-25 minutes) to beach bars and shops north / west of the bridge. The building and rooms are clearly a bit dated, but they’ve done a decent job renovating them. AC in the room worked well, unlike other Italian hotels we’ve previously stayed in. We were upgraded to a lovely sea view room, never goes unnoticed. The bed was huge and comfortable, and two pillows each were provided. The room is severely lacking in any type of bedroom amenities. No fridge, no kettle/ coffee station, no iron (available on request but without a board!) and no bathroom amenities whatsoever. That was quite poor. The bathroom itself is also showing its age. However our room was very clean, and attended daily by our housekeeper Happiness. The other members of staff were also kind and helpful when needed (e.g. to call a taxi). Breakfast was okay, not a huge amount of food options and not always topped up, but with fresh coffee made by baristas! Overall a decent, good value option for those seeking a quiet stay with basic demands.
