We were torn between this property and one closer to the entrance - one closer to the entrance would have been wiser. While the property is beautiful and well maintained, that didn’t make up for the drawbacks. Check in was slow and we had to wait for a couple to get checked in and then the clerk permitted a driver to come in and interrupt our check-in and be attended to first. At least that clerk was kind. The average room that we booked was very spacious and comfortable. Dinner was well priced but of very poor quality. We talked to some fellow travelers and they were disappointed as well. We were the only four people in the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was better, but inside was stuffy and outside you could not escape the cigarette smoke. We were nervous about finding a guide so we hired a private one who picked us up. We were explicitly told to just call for the shuttle afterwards so we let our driver go even though he could’ve easily taken us back to the resort. We called. And called. The shuttle never came. As in over two hours. We were eventually scammed by two guys in a sedan who claimed they were from the hotel. While waiting at the sister resort for the shuttle, it was not air-conditioned, and I was dehydrated and exhausted from Petra and they denied me water. “None available. Restaurant closed.” My complaint at checkout about the shuttle fell on deaf ears. It is a special property with nice amenities, but I can’t imagine being in Wadi Musa if your purpose isn’t Petra, and it just wasn’t worth the transportation hassle. Plus, you are way up on the hill and you cannot walk to restaurants. As a sidenote, we did a month long trip to Morocco Egypt and Jordan. Only in Petra were we constantly hassled and scammed (we never felt unsafe, it was just a constant pressure for money). HAVE A PLAN FOR EXITING PETRA AT THE END OF YOUR VISIT WITH EXTRA WATER AND SUNSCREEN. GET CLEAR QUOTES FOR MULES, ETC.
