We stayed one night at the Skif ("Scythian") Hotel in Petropavlovsk in July 2024. The hotel is a fairly simple one, not flashy, but it is very nice, well-run, very clean, in excellent condition, in a great location, and with a very good breakfast buffet. We had two rooms, one for ourselves and one for our adult daughter, travelling with us. Our room, upstairs, was large and nice, if somewhat spartan. Our daughter's small one-person room on the bottom floor lacked an actual window tot he outside but otherwise was nice. Bathrooms were nice. Shower was pretty good but lacked a hand-held shower head, which is a slight negative point. Again everything was very clean and in excellent condition with fresh paint and gleaming metal fixtures. The room was comfortable. Breakfast buffet came with the room. It was in a simple but pleasant eating area and the buffet was substantial and varied, and all was of good quality. The hotel has a fenced parking area and it is located in the heart of the city, a short walk from the main pedestrianised activity area along Constitution of Kazakhstan St and the Central Square. At the same time, since we were driving our own rental car, we also enjoyed the fact that it was easy to get to and from the hotel by driving into and out of the city.
