📍 207 Moo 6 Ban Luang, Laung Khaut, Long Khot, Phrao

"I recommend this place if you're going to see the tamarind tree in the middle of the water. Staying here feels like staying at a relative's house; it's very warm and welcoming. Uncle Oun and Aunt Thip are lovely and even offered to take us for a drive to explore nature. It's a shame we were tired and wanted to rest more, but we'll definitely come back. P.S. 1: The restaurant behind the guesthouse is a simple, home-style place where Auntie makes delicious, authentic local food. P.S. 2: Wat Phra That Doi Wiang Chai Mongkol is very beautiful. If you're staying in this area, I recommend visiting it."

"We stayed here for three days in late January. Beware this place is really difficult to find. Yes we should have printed the maps from their website but still would have struggled to find the place with them. In fact, a member of staff of the local bank got in our hire car with us and took us to Doi Farang - so typical of the fantastic friendly Thai people, otherwise we would still be circling Phrao. Doi Farang is beautifully set out with pool and gardens plus their own veggie garden. We were the only visitors and had our own chef to cook Thai food for us - these meals were delicious. One night we had a schnitzel night where Michael our host cooked, very good with the freshest salad ever. A couple of negatives, the beds are rock hard and the showers not very good. The road through the rice field is difficult and therefore you are locked in at night as you can't leave the premises due to the difficulty navigating the road in the dark. All in, a good 3 days but with room for improvement. Not a lot of other options in Phrao"

"We had a good stay there and the staff was motivated, but we had to find out how to comunicate with them and for my opinion they need to get trained in routines. Its a nice quiet place to relax... A nice stay with potential!"

"You really do need a GPS device to find this lovely resort. Luckily we had one. Otherwise, be sure to check Manfred's directions on Google Maps beforehand. Then you shouldn't go wrong. The property itself is a real insider tip, in our opinion. Michael looks after his guests lovingly and can offer valuable tips. With his help, you can perfectly explore rural Thailand. We were there by bike and regretted not having taken more time for Doi Farang. There are many paths in this remote valley, but no traffic. You won't even find any tourists there. The resort itself is immaculately maintained and offers various accommodation options, including simple, inexpensive wooden houses. We stayed in a stone bungalow, which was spacious, clean, and offered every comfort in its price range. We hadn't actually expected it to be so comfortable. The restaurant not only serves delicious ice cream sundaes, but also authentic, good food, which can occasionally be expanded to include German specialties (schnitzel) on request. A great tip for motorcyclists, too, as Michael knows his stuff. Doi Farang is the perfect base for anyone who wants to experience authentic Thailand, far off the beaten track. A rural oasis with all the natural sounds all around, including the croaking of thousands of frogs. We loved it."

"Close to the community, travel is not difficult, beautiful room, good view, good service from the staff, big pork pan, lots of it, but the water in the bathroom flows very weakly, the onsen also flows very little, can only soak in the evening or at night, in the morning the water is not hot at all. Unfortunately, when we came, the electricity went out and went out very often, more than 20 times (the staff tried their best to fix it, but it might be the electrical system). The walkway is not suitable for wheelchair users and people with bad knees. P.S. It's difficult to contact the owner of the accommodation. If you want to ask more questions, you should allow more time."
