My stay at Mövenpick Phu Quoc Resort unfortunately turned out to be a major disappointment.
Hygiene issues were the main concern.
For two consecutive days, tomcats (rove beetles) appeared in the room. This is not just unpleasant but potentially harmful, as contact can cause skin irritation — which I experienced. There were also many tomcats in the corridor on the same floor. When I raised this issue, the response I received was that “the weather is changing.” In my view, a 5-star resort should manage such risks proactively and consistently, regardless of weather conditions. After I raised my concern, the pest control came, however on the very next morning there was a new tomcat. The balcony door was closed at all times.
Room cleanliness was below expectations.
There were visible stains on bedsheets and pillows, and overall the room did not feel properly cleaned.
Food quality was inconsistent.
Breakfasts were excellent — varied and well-prepared. However, the juice bar was disappointing. After ordering a mango juice, I received a very diluted drink that contained half a mango blended mostly with water. Saw that being mixed with my eyes.
Overall impression.
Given my previous stays at other resorts and apartments in Phu Quoc, this experience stands out negatively. I was relieved to leave, as I have not encountered such issues elsewhere on the island.
Conclusion:
The hotel has potential (notably in its breakfast offering), but significant improvements in hygiene control and service consistency are necessary to meet 5-star standards.
P.S. The resort territory is outstanding.
