Our family recently stayed here (3 kids; two teens and a 9-year-old). We had the Buddha bungalow and it was fantastic! Located about an hour and a half or less from LIR airport, the most notable experience we had here is the vibe of Pura Vida is built into everything. From the delicious the food they serve (thank you Chefs! Everything we ate was superb!), how spacious our unit was, and the gracious staff. Location was about 20 minutes from Tamarindo and about 40-60 from Playas Conchal and Flamingo). Playa Avellenas is a short-drive (like 5 mins) or a 16-20 min. walk. Great restaurants nearby and do please visit the Gelato next door! It really embraces a “chill” atmosphere and offers yoga twice a week, a small but great pool, a trampoline, and great little nooks to read a book, take a nap, or just be. The on-site small store carries a well-curated assortment of handmade Costa Rican products as well as name-brand ones.

Sweet, small property with individual cabins. We stayed in their smallest option, which had a queen bed and twin bed, couch, chair, and outdoor seating. We were very close to the pool and restaurant, which had fun cocktails and middle eastern food.

This is a beautiful hotel in a secluded and peaceful area. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The restaurant at the hotel has excellent food. It’s about a 15 min walk to the beach and other restaurants.

Well furnished rooms, wonderful staff and great food at SoulShine. Service is incredible and everyone is so nice. Walkable to other restaurants and the little community center of La Esquina. Couldn’t ask for more in the delightful little surf village of Playa Avellana.

We loved staying at SoulShine Avellanas. The room was comfortable and the small kitchen was well equipped. The kids had a great time at the pool and the restaurant had delicious food. We loved how the room truly felt like a treehouse, monkeys and all! We hope to be back soon!

Absolutely loved our stay at Soulshine Hotel in Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience. The atmosphere was relaxed yet luxurious, perfect for a beachside escape. The highlight of our mornings was the fabulous brunch—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented with local ingredients. Evenings were just as special with an exquisite dinner menu that blended Costa Rican flavors with creative culinary twists. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece, paired perfectly with craft cocktails and a serene ambiance. We can’t wait to return to this hidden gem!

Went on a super yoga retreat there. Staff were amazing and very accommodating. Food is amazing and now they have tapas for dinner. I would recommend this as a small local resort close to Playa allenenas Rooms are clean and the property is very safe, with the exception of holler monkeys roaming around highbin the trees above.

The food, the service, and the vibe are second to none. We have visited Soulshine multiple times for their delicious brunch and knew we had to return and try their new dinner menu. During our 3-night stay, it became clear that their excellent cuisine was only surpassed by their service. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and the rooms have everything you need — plus they are super clean. We will be back — and recommend you visit, too!
