Very friendly Staff that welcomed you into their quaint Old Inn. We had the lovely king suite with our own sitting room and little porch. Gardens were lovely to sit in with all their home grown fruit, herbs vegetables , these are all used in their dinner and breakfasts. Very homely clean with nice little touches ( home made biscuits ) very good. Altogether Port Fairy was lovely. Wished we stayed a few more days.

Lovely place to stay in Port Fairy which in itself is a great place to stay before or after the GOR. We were in room 2 which was huge and had a separate living room and a bath. Very cute touches everywhere and a lovely garden. Great breakfast too. We weren’t able to eat here in the evening, as it’s shut on a Wednesday evening

We stayed in Room 4 which just adjacent to the reception area. It’s very ‘shabby chic’ but extremely comfortable. Don’t expect even floors and corporate style, it’s set out more like granny’s house but for us this added to its charm. Hot water bottle provided in a very comfortable bed and we were happy. Didn’t get up for breakfast after a very tasty meal in the onsite restaurant. You must book early, it’s popular and we throughly enjoyed the food. Staff very helpful and friendly. Quirky and fun stay, sitting by the log fire before dinner with a drink was lovely.

Stayed one night. Do not book room 4. Too many issues to list. Some the same as reported on trip advisor years ago. When we arrived we were given option of eating there but when trying to book a time only a tiny space available on the high bar counter. Unable to use. Highly recommend breakfast had only one cooked option IE scrambled egg. Hotel services and guests appeared to play second fiddle to restaurant.

We stayed for one night in room 4 (Queens suite) which had a small lounge attached to the bedroom. The only real positive was the location of the inn, right next to the port, great views. We were told the room was the only room in the oldest part of the inn, as if this was a good thing. The room itself was very tired, old and falling apart in places (holes in wall and an area above the clothes rail was held together with tape). It certainly did not look like the pictures on the website. There was an old gas fire in the lounge which was pointed out to us (but no instructions on how to use it) and a radiator in the bedroom. Unfortunately the radiator wasn’t on, and we couldn’t get the gas fire to work (the only instruction for it was how to turn it off). The room was very cold (thankfully we did find a hot water bottle which made it a bit more bearable). We arrived on a Saturday and on checking in were asked if we wanted to eat in that night. At no point were we told that it gets very busy and we would need to book a table immediately. They only had the previous nights menu at that point and as one of us is vegetarian and one pescatarian we wanted to wait for that nights before confirming. We went for a walk and received the menu at 5:45. We were then told that there were no tables available (!) but we could eat in the bar at 6:30. This was earlier than we wanted but agreed as the food has good reviews. The bar is tiny and they expected us to sit at the bar to eat. Although there were bar stools, the actual bar was high and narrow and it would have been impossible to eat in that position. We therefore declined and went elsewhere. We feel they should have told us as soon as we checked in that we need to book a table asap. Breakfast was ok, again there have been very good reviews. However there was a very limited choice of cooked food (scrambled egg with or without avocado). No other egg choice. Safe to say we would not recommend or return. The other rooms may be better, but avoid room 4 if you do stay there!

What a gorgeous place to stay. I had read other reviews and knew it would be very good, but was still impressed and surprised. From the friendly and helpful staff to the accommodation, communal areas and gardens, the bar and restaurant looked great! Breakfast was delicious too. So much to offer and in such a homely setting. We will definitely be back!

This is a quirky little B&B from the outside, but it’s a tardis once you are inside. It sits on the corner of Campbell & Gipps street, with parking on either Street. It felt once inside like being back in time at my Nans old house, fresh home grown vegetables in baskets everywhere, the old mismatched mats, old dusty pictures hanging on the walls. We were greeted and shown to our room, which was bigger than expected on the ground floor, which comprised of a small sitting area, bedroom and on suite shower and toilet. There was no A/C but a fan kept the bedroom cool. The bed was comfortable, the room spotlessly clean with a TV on the wall. Bathroom toiletries were supplied. There was a kettle with Tea & Coffee making facilities, A shared fridge in the lounge provided us with milk and we were able to store wine in it. Outside there was a small garden with a “Shed” bar and seating. The Breakfast buffet was exceptional, all fresh home grown produce, even home made organic yogurts. As well as the buffet a freshly cooked breakfast was served if required. On the weekend of our stay there was an old fashion car show taking place, coupled with the Inn it was like stepping back in time 40 years ago. A defo stay if you find yourself in Port Fairy
