Property Description
A fun, modern, cozy apartment sitting on top of Munjoy Hill on North Street. Enjoy some of the best views in the city facing southwest to downtown, the Back Cove, with the White Mountains in the background, and stunning sunsets. The apartment is part of a two-unit home that we own and occupy. Enjoy the sunny backyard overflowing with flowers, hops, apples and grapes. We are a 2-minute walk to Washington Avenue, where there are a number of amazing restaurants, bars, breweries, distilleries and hip stores. We are an 8-minute walk to the East Bayside brewery area. Our home was built in 1876. It is one of the oldest homes on the hill. We bought the house in 2010 and have renovated it. We are a family of four living upstairs. We are an international family. I am from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and my wife is from Lisbon, Portugal. We love to travel the world seeking adventure and sun in the winter. We are very passionate about surfing, skiing, mountain biking, beer, food and Portland, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask us. We made the apartment a fun blend of the historic nature of the home with modern touches and artwork we have picked up while traveling the globe. My wife Rita from Portugal speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, and Italian for those travelers preferring to communicate in these languages. We truly hope you have a wonderful stay in our little oasis on the hill. Please note that our two-bedroom set up is “railroad style”, so you go through one bedroom to get to the second bedroom. This is a common and authentic style of building in the 1800s. This setup is great for families with kids, but we will defer to you to decide if it is comfortable for two couples seeking privacy. As a solution. we have a sectional sofa that converts to a queen size bed in the living room. This is not a traditional pullout with uncomfortable bars in the middle, instead if feels like an actual mattress. We have a super soft topper for it to make it even cozier. The living room has window curtains that can be closed for privacy for those sleeping on the converted sofa. We recently stayed at a lovely house in Munjoy Hill with breathtaking views. The home was perfectly appointed with a modern kitchen and comfortable living area, making it feel like a home away from home. We loved being able to walk to the several great local eateries, all within minutes of the house. The convenience of being able to walk to to the beach was great. We'd highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a scenic and convenient base for exploring Portland."

Almost as good as home! We came into Portland at the end of our long road trip for a couple of days and stayed at this lovely apartment while in town! It was a wonderful stay - we had absolutely everything we needed! From the coffee that was provided to the shampoo and conditioner in the shower, and the super comfy beds and soft towels it was just wonderful! Not to mention, it’s in a fantastic location - AND there is ample free parking on the street PLUS electric chargers a quick walk away to get our car all charged up! HUGE BONUS for us!!! (Although this won’t matter to everyone)Communication with owner was great, access was super easy, and everything is very safe and secure. I cannot recommend this property enough - it was wonderful! If we get back to Portland, we will definitely stay here again! Thank you!!!

Quick Portland family trip This place was everything we could have asked for. We were walking distance from parks, playgrounds, restaurants, and breweries. The views were outstanding, and the house had everything we could ask for and more. The hosts were great, and have amazing recommendations on things to do in the area! 10/10 all the way!

Excellent We had an excellent stay at The Globe House. The property was clean and just as advertised. The hosts were welcoming and incredibly responsive. They went above and beyond to accommodate the needs of our 7 month old that was traveling with us (provided a pack 'n play, high chair, toys, etc.). Would stay again without hesitation. Would highly recommend to anyone.

What a beautiful home! We totally enjoyed our stay at Rita’s lovely main floor Portland apartment! There were nice restaurants within walking distance and parking on the street was a breeze. The apartment itself was extremely clean and well stocked. Be aware that it has a railroad plan meaning you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other bedroom. This was stated in Rita’s paperwork but we did not read it until we were close to arriving. We would highly recommend this home.
