Libelula Lounge & Lodgings

For a fabulous boutique hotel or top drawer glamping experience, don’t look any further on the west coast of Costa Rica. The rooms are very well appointed and the 3 glamping rooms are unique. Huge bed, fully furnished en suite bathroom and a large patio. The grounds are a tropical delight with an excellent pool and extremely comfortable outside seating areas. The manager, Javier and the staff will do absolutely anything for you. The restaurant on site, Canatica, serves excellent lunches, dinners and cocktails.

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon here and it did not disappoint! We were treated wonderfully from the moment we came in to the moment we left. It’s a beautiful place with such a special vibe. Very chill and relaxing atmosphere. We spent a few nights in one of the glamming tents, and a few nights in one of the ranchero rooms. We wanted to get the full experience of the lodgings Libelula had to offer! Both were so cute, clean and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud. So comfy! It’s in a good location within walking distance to Playa Potrero and several restaurants, bars, a small grocery store, pharmacy, and even a brewery! It’s also located just a short drive away from Tamarindo, Playa Flamingo, Playa Conchal and Playa Danta, if you want to check it other beautiful beaches in the area. Coffee and delicious breakfast was included. My favorite were the pancakes with banana and a fresh mango smoothie! Thank you to Dawn and the rest of the folks at Libelula, (including their dog Lula!) for making our stay so special. We hope to stay again someday!

Beautiful and peaceful place. We stayed in one of the tents and we loved it. It had everything that we needed. Everyone is very nice and always ready to help. Safe to walk around, locals are very friendly. We had breakfast at the lounge in the morning and enjoyed the food from Doki in the evening (delicious sushi). A truly special and magical getaway. Small, private, secluded sanctuary run by some of the friendliest, down to earth and most welcoming people. The property is kept very clean and has thoughtful touches you'd find at luxury properties as well. The glamping tents exceeded my expectations in terms of appointments and comfort, no need to worry about mosquitoes or bugs in the tent itself, need to worry a bit in the open air bathroom though, especially in the mornings! Sushi restaurant is surprisingly delicious. Its the laidback, familial, welcoming vibes here that truly make it special, its a labor of love and you can feel it. We booked last minute and were welcomed. They went above and beyond in that the original airport transfer had to be changed last minute on arrival due to availability, for this minor inconvenience and only a small upcharge for the new transfer, the Libeblula team still gave an apology note and a bottle of wine waiting in our room. Simply unnecessary but very much welcome and shows the level of service and detail they strive to achieve. Impressed. Highly recommend. If glamping isnt for you, they have fulled enclosed concrete huts/rooms as well.

I can’t say enough about our experience at Libelula from the staff to the location to the offering it was all outstanding. Sophie organised our entire trip and was there from start to finish with us she is an asset to Libelula. Esteban was always smiling and always there to help us. Juan from Doki sushi at Libelula is one of the best people we have met in all our travels. And of course we loved Lula! Thank you Libelula and all the staff at Libelula for giving our family the vacation of a lifetime. PURA VIDA

We enjoyed our time together in Libelula, nice spot and the tent was very pleasant and comfortable. The common area was clean and quiet. The pool is very nice and the Japanese restaurant is great! Thank you Dawn for your lovely hospitality. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

All you need to do is to book a stay here. You will be welcolmed by the lovely host and amazed by the nature and the beauty of this place. The lodge is clean, comfortable and heartwarming. There is a lot of details around the pool area, decored with love and passion by the host.

Dawn was an ideal host, taking care to ensure our stay was enjoyable and readily available to answer questions and help book reservations. LOCATION: easy walking distance to beach and main street. Felt very safe on this fenced and gated property. Parking available just inside gate, and easy to come and go as you wish. ROOM: stayed in one of several air conditioned units. Spacious for 2 adults (sleeps 1 or 2 more on the 2 chairs which foldout to single beds as needed). Attached sitting room (no AC) adds additional space to relax or space for more privacy. Large bathroom off bedroom. Room locks for additional safety and freshened/cleaned each day. Enjoyed Dawn's art work and stylish up-cycling decor. ONSITE FOOD: breakfast included each morning. Plate of fresh cut fruit and choice of pancakes or typical Costa Rican breakfast served by Doki Sushi restaurant staff. Guests and public alike may enjoy the poolside, outdoor seating restaurant for dinner 6 nights a week. Excellent cuisine and personable, kind staff. POOL: this amenity is perfect to take a quick dip to cool off or simply relax in the beautifully landscaped setting by the pool. Good to note: do not drink the water from your bathroom faucet; a fresh agua station is located nearby. No in-room refrigerators for cold drinks or leftovers, unless you are staying in the 3 bedroom home with a kitchen (available for booking on property).

I loved everything about Libelula Lounge! I stayed in one of the glamping tents, which provided the best of all worlds - a super comfy bed, a beautiful bathroom and fresh air. The pool and onsite sushi restaurant were lovely. I hope to return and bring my kids next time!
