Uros Titicaca Lodge Puno Peru

The most magical and simply best accommodation we’ve been to during a 4 months journey through South America. The location is unbeatable. Host Ivan speaks perfect English, he loves sharing about his family, community, lake titikaka and whatever else may interest you. Several activities are included, all guided by Ivan. We’ve learnt a lot from him during our 3 night stay. We stayed in the deluxe king suite which we most highly recommend. But any room really (according to the other travelers we stayed with) are absolutely worth the experience. Ivan will also help you with your arrival and departure (the boat trips are included in the price), and he organises us a fairly priced private transfer to the Bolivian border near Copacabana with a great driver and 4 amazing cultural stops along the way. We couldn’t recommend Ivan and his incredible homestay more highly.

An experience for life! You live with the most lovely couple Julio and Julianna who do everything for you to enjoy your stay. You get to know a culture that has been driven out on these islands by the Incas. Julio also shared his life history and wisdom with us. Food, ambiance and lodges - everything was great. Please notice that this is not a faceless five star hotel but a family run business. Julio has spent 18 years to build up this!

If you are visiting Puno or Lake Titicaca, you must stay here! The lodging is beautiful and the families who own/run it are gracious, share their love of the unique Uros culture and way of life. The food was fresh and some of the best we had in Peru. The lodge arranged transport from our PeruHop bus drop off point to the marina where we were picked up by Elvis, who took us by boat about 30 minutes to the lodge. The lodge is past the main floating village of Uros- one of the last families to live outside the village. Our rooms (2 couples - my husband and I in our 60's traveling with our daughter and her partner in their 30's) were idyllic. We had the bigger one with 3 sides glass overlooking Lake Titicaca. It was the perfect place to acclimate to altitude (12,500 feet) for Two very peaceful days. I was actually pretty sick and was happy to stay in bed on the deck or in our room. Ivan, the Uros Titicaca Lodge owner, grew up in the Uros community and shared his love for the way of life and explained how it is all changing with recent regulations. There are many activities to do- kayaking, dragon boat, fishing, visiting the Uros. Community, visiting a craft village. Or just resting and reading in the peaceful, beautiful place. 2 of our group went on the dragon boat with Ivan and learned about the lake. On the way back to Puno, we spent time in Uros Village with a family where they showed us about drying fish, potatoes, and some of their embroidery crafts. The crafts were for sale, low pressure, and we were happy to buy a couple of pillow covers and wall hangings knowing that they were made right there. A wonderful experience and highly recommend as the only place you should stay on Lake Titicaca.

This is an magical place. Approx 7km from Puno and a few KM from the main UROS village - this is a lovely hotel. The staff and owner are amazing - always trying to help. We spent 2 amazing days on the lake - kayak and visiting the UROS village - both activities free of charge and provided by the hotel. I highly recommend if you want some time to rest and connect with nature.

Staying with Jose and his family was perfect. What an amazing way to experience the floating islands of Lake Titicaca! Highly recommend.

Ivan offered great service from start to finish. We booked one night at this accommodation and wished we had booked another. We got picked up at our hotel in Puno and taken to a small port where Ivan was waiting. As we were heading to the floating island he told us history about the floating islands and how they are made. He named a number of activities that were included in the price, including fishing and canoeing. We decided to visit the touristy floating islands first as these were on the way. We spent about an hour here talking to the locals and seeing their way of life. We then went to a small museum and was there about 20 mins. It then took about another 15 mins or so to get to the lodge. This is outside the tourist area making it very peaceful and giving great views of the lake and mountains. We planned to go out on a traditional reed boat. Unfortunately the weather turned and the water became to choppy. We relaxed in our room and in the common area taking in all the views. There is unlimited teas/coffee available and we got served a tasty 3 course lunch and dinner. Breakfast was also included in the price which was also very good. We went out on the reed boat in the morning and Ivan showed us how they cut and collected the reeds then allowed us to have a go. He also let us have ago at trying to row the boat. The floating lodge is shared with his family which made this experience more authentic seeing how they live on this floating island. The room we stayed in had a 270 degree view of the lake and a modern shower, heater and a big comfy bed with a terrace. If you want to stay in authentic family run lodge on the lake this is the place to stay!

It was a good hotel. Good pancakes. Sadly, no syrup. Good toast and a nice breakfast. A good room. The people were nice. Had an oxygen machine. Let us bring a doctor to help. Would recommend this hotel.
