This place is a hidden gem! My family and I stayed in Chalet #10 which had a great view of Okeover Inlet. It had one king bed in the lower level, and 2 double sized beds in the 2nd bedroom upstairs. The unit we had was very clean, kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable. The staff, Julie and Vincent were very helpful and friendly. We will be back! Lund is just a short drive away where there are great places to eat and where you can take a water taxi to Savoury Island. There are hammocks, bbq grill, books, game boards, puzzles, a basketball hoop, all the resort, Plenty to do if you just want stay in.

Friendly management, However, having stayed at other similar places, it seems that this place is over priced and under cared for. First thing that strikes out at you is a notice that you will be charged 35$ for dishes left uncleaned. In all our travels we have never seen a sign like that. It does not have a resort feel and there is a sense of frugalness in the up keep. Please note that there is NO swimming beach and very gross swimming off the dock as there seems to me gas from boats in and around . Yes there is a rocky beach if you have a kayak, canoe, paddle board or blow up raft. They no longer offer the kayaks to guest and now have a 3rd party outfit that doesn't offer discounts to guest staying at the resort. This place has so much potential and hopefully they will offer better service, amenities for what they charge as more competition comes into the area. Also hiring an arborist would help with some wild tree growth.

5 days staying at one of the most beautiful places in British Columbia. Desolation Sound Wilderness Resort -- Cabin 10. The cabin's large windows and front deck overlook Okeover Inlet. The views are breathtaking. The unit was fully stocked with kitchen stuff (not food) The bedding was comfortable. Fans were supplied if needed. All windows had screens to prevent flying pests from entering. The 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms were perfect for 4 people. (2 couples). The upstairs bedroom was accessed by a spiral staircase; however, it was pretty steep. The resort had a rocky beach to launch our kayak. You can travel across the inlet to the cliffs and try to locate the red Petroglyphs. (About 3 to 4 meters above the water line). Wifi and Cellular are available, but only near the office. If you are looking for serenity, calmness and just a great place to chill -- Desolation Sound Wilderness Resort is your place.

Four of us rented cabin 4-2 with view of the water and luscious green trees right by our balcony. It was very close to the private dock, which was an amazing spot for all day reading, swimming and just admiring the scenery. The rooms are very spacious, each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. Everything was super clean, staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our cooking adventures. A wonderful rustic and secluded get-away.

accomodation / we had nr 82 -> nice view over the lake, 2 grey seals are swimming there, nice green hummingbird and some red birds are flying there. the park is what the name says "desolated", it's dark, and there is absolutely nothing to do there. No restaurant on the park, the roads to the cabins are narrow and steep, with no lights. we came there around 9.30 PM, and it was pitch dark, no reception, quite creepy. There is no reach for telephone, no wifi and no television. The road to Powell River takes at least 30 minutes. There is not much to see there, as there is in Lund. the staff was very friendly though!

Spectacular resort! My girlfriend and I stayed in cabin 10 for my birthday weekend last week. Cabin had a beautiful view and was very clean. Resort staff was very friendly. My only problem is now that my girlfriend wants to move to a similar cabin :p

After 2 years of being closed and even before they were open for the season, I talked several times with the new manager, Vincent, about accommodations for a party of 5 for 3 nights. Shortly after booking the 2 bed + loft cabin, our group increased by 4 and we added another 2 bed cabin. About 2 weeks before our arrival another couple wanted to join so we added another 1 bed cottage. After talking with Vincent so many times, I felt that we had become friends. This proved to be the case, as he came to our cottage to welcome us and told us that if we needed anything, just ask. He also told us a lot about the history of the resort, and what we could do and see in the surrounding area, including where to find clams and oysters; and where to drop our crab traps and fishing lines. We saw him and his wife everyday, and they always shared suggestions to to enhance our daily plans. The accommodations themselves were all unique, no 2 cabins were the same, but all well equipped, comfortable and each with spectacular decks with views over the water. The kitchens were well equipped and we had no problems doing a BBQ dinner and a lunch for all 11 people in the large cabin, not to mention the happy hours on the deck to just watch the view. Something we all enjoyed, but maybe a negative to some, was that there is no cell service and very limited wifi (office only) at the resort Overall, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to others. In fact one couple in our group enjoyed the place so much, they extended their stay for an additional 3 nights.
