I was amazingly surprised of Marsa Shagra. It was my first time there. The room was always clean with a lot of space and air con. I, personally would prefer a fan instead of an air con. But that’s something minor. The restaurant was always delicious, and a lot of variety. Dive sites were incredibly great. Loved them all. The staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. Best diving vacation ever. Can highly recommend this place for diving holidays. Will come again for sure.

I stayed in the village for 4 nights in February 2024 to dive with friends. The village is not the typical red-sea resort, the chalets are basic but comfortable, with a kettle and minibar (which is not available in The-breakers hotel in Somabay), fresh water everywhere to fill your own bottle. The hotel is very quiet, which is perfect for me. Food is superb, and the Egyptian food was like we do in home (and its rare find in Egyptian resorts), for such rooms and food, the hotel is inexpensive. The hotel has a nice reef in which you can dive at any time of the day without a guide as long as you are able to find a buddy. I rented only a wet-suit which was in good condition. The diving was not very comfortable, for example, Jetty is very small and inside the water without any shade or a place to store tanks and weights like in similar dive centers, so to dive in the house reef or to take the zodiac, you have to carry your weights, tank and fins under your arm for a good distance and do the same in the way back. We went for Dolphin House day-trip, the surface interval was on the zodiac/speed-boat which again, without any shade or toilet.

I stayed in a royal tent, and was surprise by the comfort. The house reef is wonderful. I took the self reliant course with Banna and two freedive sessions with Kareem, both were great experiences with experienced and fun instructors. I will be coming back.

I would never stay here again. We picked Shagra specfically because we wanted to dive for a couple of days before joining a liveaboard dive boat. We almost missed the opportunity to dive completely due to poor/missing communication at check in. The guy at the equipment desk was just downright rude. The prices were outrageous!!! The extra fees for hyperbaric chambers and the environment might make sense if you're staying a week. They do not make sense if you're staying 2 nights and diving twice. Our room/board was pre-paid. We upgraded our room from a tent to a chalet, and did two dives (two people), with one equipment rental. It cost us $450 EXTRA (beyond the original room/board). Most expensive diving ever.

This is my third stay in Marsa Shagra. I love this hotel. Super comfy rooms and tents, incredible diving experiences, amazing beach views, great food, extremely friendly staff and everything is tastefully done. I always get a sense of peace and serenity here and I highly recommend it to divers and non-divers equally. Can’t wait to be back again!

I dont know where to start, it was my first visit to shagra and i am very sad i havent been there all these past years. The location is amazing the staff are awesome and very very friendly, everyone’s first goal is for visitors to enjoy their stay and vacation. Everyone is always trying to help you from the people at the instrument office to the guys in the dive shade (mahmoud, lam3y and shika and all the others). Even the zodiac drivers are super nice and helful (selem, gelberto and all others). We did some awesome dives there at the long canyon and elphinstone and the house reef. Haytham, kareem, adel and abdelrahman all were very professional as dive guides. Basta was very helpful when it came to all the logistics and technicalities. Everyone was just very keen to make this stay memorable and delightful. We stayed at a royal tent first row by the sea. Very spacious and comfy. The food is spectacular and very diverse that ur always looking forward to the meals time. I would definitely recommend it to everyone and i am really looking forward to visiting again. I can’t forget to mention that we encountered 3 white tip sharks and a sea turtle at elphinstone and we also got to see a school of dolphins on the way back to the village. All in all it was super.

Pros: - The unlimited diving concept is excellent and the house reef is beautiful. The corals are particularly lovely (although if you’re staying longer than 3 days you’d probably have to do excursions to keep yourself entertained). - The royal tents are well situated on the beach, the toilets and showers are cleaned regularly. - There was enough variety during meals to find something nice, the desserts were especially good. Cons: - We usually arrived for lunch at 1.30 and most of the salads, meat options etc would already be finished and not replaced. It was very hard to flag staff down to ask for drinks at the restaurant and if you didn’t arrive early for dinner it wasn’t possible to find a table outside. - The dive shade gets very crowded when the resort is at full capacity, making it difficult to kit up if your neighbours are also diving at the same time. Some dive shade staff were unfriendly and unhelpful when asked questions. You’ll need padlocks for the lockers.

We stayed in the resort next to. I wanted just to show the baby barracudas to my daughter. We didnt use the beach even for leaving the shoes. More, we even didnt come by the beach. Some guy from Eco lodge made us to leave a water and wanted 10 EUR for using their private beach. Really very ecological. They think they can own sea or the beach. They are the same as the rest. Pay for anything, pay for everything.

Lovely place, extremely well kept! Service and food was amazing with a lot of variety. Rooms were spacious and nicely architectured to blend with the environment. Many various water activities. Not much to do at night though. They have a cute souvenir shop. Loved the afternoon coffee/ tea that was offered in between meals.
