A great space to rest, relax or date with a unique view of the Douro. The view is a must-see although GPS access is confusing, as is the entrance to the hotel - 2/3 couples were also trying to find the entrance.
The meal was wonderful and with style (it looks gourmet but is to be satisfied and with the refinement of a chef).
As for the jacuzzi and sauna we were a little disappointed. A jacuzzi with only 4 squirts for so many people is not enough.
The bed was also to be desired - it wasn't as comfortable as it appeared but it was quite spacious.
At the time I went, the outdoor pool was naturally closed.
The night has a very pleasant musical evening.

Had a stay at Douro Royal Valley and it turned out to be great. The suite was spacious with a super comfy bed, and the private garden offered a sweet river view. Waking up to the Douro River view was a highlight. The Palato D’Ouro restaurant served up solid Douro flavors, and the Ruby Bar had a laid-back vibe. Practical indulgence in the Douro's splendor. Fantastic experience.

My recent stay at Douro Royal Valley left me genuinely impressed. The suite was amazing: spacious living area, a bed that you sink into, and a private garden with a stunning river view—impeccable for unwinding. The bathroom was expansive, and waking up to the panoramic view of the Douro River was a daily delight. It's not about extravagance; it's about practical comfort in the lap of nature. Amazing location right on the river. Fantastic views. Room was good. However it was expensive for what we got. The breakfast was good but the bar a bit soulless and the main restaurant was expensive and average. I didn’t think it was a 5 star hotel. No help with the bags, food wasn’t great, there was rarely anyone at the bar. Overall good but could be better.

It was absolutely amazing stay that we had in Douro valley thanks to the Douro Royal valley Hotel&Spa, especially because our trip took place when it was mostly raining… luckily, me and my husband were able to use that time properly in the hotel’s spa, having massage, enjoying the time in the swimming pool, spending some time in sauna and even at the gym. Thanks to hotel’s facilities the trip was not a waste of time, we could rest actively, we also enjoyed very much the overall ambience of the hotel and taking care of the personell so that overall the hotel is a calm place to stay at. What caught us by surprise was absolutely stunning dinner- each out of 6 courses we had was prepared and served with such a mastery that we thought we are at the resturant with micheline star chef- chapeau bas to the Chef - your courses are absolute masterpiece and the best of the best we tried on our 2-week trip in Portugal. Thank you for this experience :)

The rooms were nice but front desk was not very welcoming, hotel decor seemed cold and plain. The restaurant was mediocre. Definitely not a 5 star. More like a 3 star. Was disappointed with our stay.

A lovely location and stay. Teresa at Reception was WONDERFUL! It is a bit of a twisty drive. Great parking.
The breakfast goes far and beyond all others! Great balcony views. Room service was quick. All around wonderful!
