The Malthouse

My fiancé and I stayed here on the dinner bed and breakfast deal for Valentines day this year £119 for the whole thing which we thought was a real bargain especially on V day where everywhere else bump their prices up, the place itself is lovely and the food beautiful however we were left disappointed with the room :-( the room was nice and clean however the shower didn't work properly and I had to have a cold shower, and the toilet was practically coming off the floor, we had to balance to sit on it incase it fell over, also the noise from other rooms was quite inconsiderate, TV blasting at full volume till around midnight and then again at 6am, so sadly we didn't have a great sleep, I know there isn't much we can do about inconsiderate guests and it is no reflection on the Malthouse itself as the staff and over all experience of everything else was really good, but maybe a polite notice put in the rooms about noise and being considerate to other guests? :-) we would def return for the food, Drink and ambience as it really is a lovely place, however we wouldn't stay over again unfortunately.

Excellent £99 overnight stay with meals included. The Sunday roast choices and standards were worth the trip from London. V helpful staff, Decor is very good throughout, room was small but ideal, wit comfie bedding, Wi-Fi and en suite breakfasts were great too Highly recommended, event the roads to the palace were good, particularly for a motorbike

This was a two night break at the Malthouse. It was a lovely old Inn with traditional decor. The room was comfortable and clean. Our host, Andy, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were superb, as were evening meals.It turned out to be a very enjoyable trip. The gardens at the back have been turned into a superb outdoor venue with a bar and seating area. Perfect for a wedding or other event. The location of the Malthouse is excellent for visiting Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.

Excellent service by very friendly and helpful staff. The specials for the evening offered the Fish Platter for two to share, so we gave it a go. A varied selection of perfectly cooked fish and more than enough for two, in fact too much for us, so no room for dessert sadly. Highly recommended.

I stayed here for two nights in room 5. I also dined here for both nights, I didn’t have breakfast. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, service in the bar was spot on. Food was good value and of a good quality, well prepared and presented. My room was clean, tidy and absolute value at £50 per night room only. Improvement opportunities were slight and not “major”, had a couple of issues with my warm water but I survived and the manager dealt with swiftly thanks. As I was on a work visit the 8am brecky was in my opinion late hence I didn’t choose. I had to park in the upper car park, it was dark and a light would be nice, I do appreciate however that would not come cheap. Overall great little spot and would absolutely recommend! Me and my friend called in for Sunday dinner a few weeks ago. There was a lot of choice on the menu. We had the squid and the chicken skewers to start with. For the price of around £7 these were very expensive starters and the chicken was minimal. There was hardly anything there and although the squid was nice the starters are really not worth the money . Starters prices ranged from £6 for soup and £10 for Tempura prawns. The main roast dinner was nice although the Yorkshire puddings were very dark and overcooked. The turkey was really tender and cut thick and the vegetables tasted good though. Dessert prices were £7 a dish and we just had one portion of cheesecake. Again the portion size in relation to the price charged was not good. The meal without drinks was £57 which we think is really expensive for a Sunday lunch. With drinks you are looking at probably 80 to 90 pounds for two people. You don’t mind paying for nice food but the starters and desserts are really not worth the money. There were several wet dogs that passed through the bar and main dining room into the back area and although we aren’t against dogs, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Im sad to say that I don’t think we would come back for the Sunday lunch as it was really expensive.
