Beachcross Villa Apartments

We just returned from a three week stay at the Beachcross Villas in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. As far as we are concerned, the only good things about this place are the location of the villas as they across from the beach, very close to several restaurants and walking distance into town. The pool was nice and the air conditioner in the bedroom worked well. I do want to mention that all the pictures from the various websites are all at least four to seven years old and do not reflect the actual condition of the apartments in 2024. This place is very tired looking, outdated and in desperate need of repair, renovations and cleaning. There doesn’t seem to be any pride in ownership. We stayed in two different apartments. The first one, in our opinion, should not have been an apartment as it was dark with no natural light. The window in the bedroom was covered by both curtains and the bed. The front double door was also covered in curtains and opened into a small alcove approximately three by five feet. The furniture was dirty with crumbs and sand under each cushion. The kitchen was poorly equipped and had not been properly cleaned and the dishes were the same. The kitchen sink had no plug so cleaning dishes was a bit of a pain. The microwave had seen better days and was rusty. The fridge looked good but so extremely noisy at all times of the day and night that the people in the next apartment were woken up in the night by the noise. The shower did not drain properly so if two people were having a shower, one after the other, the second person ended up standing in about 1-2 inches of water. All in all this room was not somewhere where we wanted to spend three weeks. Every day we asked for a different room and, finally, we were moved to a different room on the courtyard side. Sadly, this apartment was only marginally better than the first. Again, the furniture was worn, dirty and, in some cases, broken. The fridge was rusty both inside and out. The air conditioner that was situated over the doorway to the bedroom leaked so much water that we had to make sure there was a towel on the floor at all times. Again, the kitchen was not very well equipped as there was a mismatch of both dishes and utensils and only a few of each. The sink had no plug and we only had two saucepans and a microwave that had seen better days. When we wanted a frying pan, we had to ask for it. The TV was losing its colour so it looked like it was “raining” from the top down. The grounds are in desperate need of a gardener. Flower boxes full of dead and dried plants both on the balconies and around the pool. The housekeeper, Katrina, was very kind and helpful, however, we believe her ability to clean the entire complex is limited by her time and resources. As for the laundry facilities, they are a nightmare. There are two washing machines, one is rusty and the other one is not. The property was situated in an excellent area. Room was cozy and clean however the fridge was annoying as it made noise all night long. Staff never welcomed us properly and seemed to be in a rush upon our arrival and never did any follow up to ensure that everything was to our liking.

Perfect location for food and entertainment and most of all beach fun.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, one bathroom was updated and one was outdated. Beds were comfortable; the rooms could've used more furniture like dressers and bedside tables, but there was a big closet and a mirror in each room, which was a plus. There was AC in each bedroom and in the kitchen/living room area. The kitchen was not equipped as we expected (only 2 glasses and wine glasses for an apartment that sleeps 4). Glad I brought the basics with me (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, spices, coffee filters, coffee, etc.) because there was nothing in the cupboards. You can use the laundry facilities at your own risk, the machine ruined some clothing but it's convenient to have. Bring your own detergent. Location is the best, right across the street from the beach and walking distance to restaurants. It was carnival time and our area was very quiet. Would definitely stay again, it was inexpensive and very convenient.

Could not have a better location in my opinion.

Quite little place with basic amenities. Good use of space in the rooms and conveniently located where we wanted to be. Public beach access and police station right across the street. Restaurants and grocery within ready to moderate walking distance. Pool was small but clean and the staff was friendly.

＞ Reserved and paid for a 2 bed/2 bath unit. When we arrived, “oh, we’re sorry, the person before at reservations messed up, only a 1 bed/bath is available”. This was for a multi week stay. No mention of overpayment of a 2bed vs 1bed. It took weeks to get the negotiated refund (host wouldn’t respond to requests for refund updates via VRBO site). I’ve rented numerous times with VRBO, this has never happened before. Interesting an earlier review noted something similar. ＞ There is a loud water compressor that cycles on 24/7, especially between 6am-9am and 4pm-7pm (goes on for any demand of water in the complex). It lasts for a few seconds but does it numerous times per minute at peak. It affects at least ½ the units - we had to wear earplugs at night. ＞ The shower is possessed – pressure fluctuates all over the place, with scalding hot / ice cold water going back and forth. ＞ Storage – there is none, but 1 small closet with 3 small shelves. No dressers, cabinets, nothing. We lived out of our suitcases. ＞ Bed -noisy, squeaky, springs worn out. ＞ It only affected us once, but there is a very large venue tent across the street. One night, they had a large party, with load thumping base music playing until 2am. ＞ There were some positives, but I’ll refrain from commenting based on our experience.

Property has a lot of potential but needs great improvement. Run down rooms.
