Good hotel with nice service

Great hotel in the heart of Rome. Excellent location for restaurants, bars, 20min walk to key tourist sites including the Vatican City. Great modern hotel set in former monetary, brilliant service yet understated. A peaceful retreat from the madness that is Rome. Worth a stay.

The staff at the desk is friendly and I'm hard pressed to say anything else that's positive. The reviews I've read online emphasize the desirability of the location--and ok, it's not bad. But I can only conclude that th management of this hotel is entirely clueless about giving travelers what they need. The dark "mood" lighting in the rooms is overdone, and should be an option with dimmers. There was simply not enough light making the rooms depressing and non-functional. My husband couldn't see to shave and I had no light for putting on makeup. The many mirrors in the room used smokey dark glass so I could hardly see to put on clothing. No tea kettle or coffeemaker in the room. The breakfast is beyond awful. None of the basics you need to get the day started--like toast. The surly waiter seemed very proud, though, of a thumbnail (not exaggerating) size "waffle" with a miniscule shred of slaw. Also provided a tiny quiche-like object, tiny biquits and a heavy doughy croissant. (Please, leave those to the French!) At least a 10-minute wait for coffee or cappuchino. A "fruit salad" that consisted of one large chunk of rock hard pear and 2 grapes. A thimble was provided for yogurt. I needed more to eat and ordered an omlette (for an extra 14 euros--whereas at the budget hotel we stayed in earlier, the omlette was free). It was so oversalted I could barely eat it. Don't believe the hype about the "stylish guests." People showed up for breakfast in sloppy sweats, men with their b--t cracks showing. And a boombox blasts rock music during breakfast so forget having a conversation. The breakfast room turns into a privately run restaurant at night--something we though would be a convenience. But one meal there was enough! The food was horrible. Overly fussy and again, oversalted. We wanted great Italian food, and it certainly isn't offered here. Oddly, the thing most complain about for this hotel--the terroism squad keeping guard out front--didn't bother us a bit. Overall, this is not worth the money, and put a damper on our stay in Rome. The three stars are for the friendly desk folk.

Excellent hotel. The staff were very helpful in organising restaurant reservations before we arrived and with places we wanted to visit when we arrived. The rooms were lovely well appointed and enjoyed little touches like complimentary water. The breakfasts were divine and the evening meal excellent. The location is a very good one within walking distance of major sites. Hope to come again.

Loved this Hotel! The location was wonderful, the service was very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was fresh and delicious the rooms were spacious with high ceilings and large windows. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it
