Boutique Hotel la Rocca

From the minute we arrived, we were blown away by the place!!! We were checked in by the owner of the hotel, who also brought us a welcome glass of wine! The staff in the restaurant were amazing, and very friendly. Food was lovely (especially the Asparagus Risotto) Rooms were great, and the views were just the cherry on top!

We discovered the boutique hotel by chance on the internet and booked a double room on the train from Biasca to Locarno. The bus journey to Porto Ronco is a highlight in itself. We received a very warm welcome at the hotel and were told about the private Lido on the lake below. Wow - swimming in Lake Maggiore at the end of September - what more could you want? The family-run hotel has been continuously expanded since 1978 and still has charm and patina. Anyone who likes this era of the 80s should visit again. The hotel lift and the view when you step out is phenomenal. We were also able to enjoy a great sunrise and a sumptuous breakfast buffet at breakfast. The hotel will receive a complete upgrade at the end of the 2025 season and is expected to reopen with 37 rooms (and suites) in October 2028. We'll be back - thank you.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we could relax. We were made the feel welcome, our room was of modest size but had a wonderful view. The restaurant food was high quality and the service was excellent. The parking was very convenient. An ideal place to stay for a visit to the Tessin.

This hotel has superb, panoramic lakeside views, very helpful staff and the restaurant serves some of the best food I have tasted. It is modern and well appointed, but with it's own unique character. Easy access is helped with a supplied Ticino pass for free bus and rail transport in the area. The only issue would be if anyone had mobility issues as the whole area is terraced into the hills - this hotel is not on its own in this respect. Thoroughly recommended.

Myself and two friends spent three nights in this wonderful little gem of a hotel. We arrived in the rain with the free shuttle bus from Locarno but soon felt warm and comfortable. The room we shared was cosy and tastefully decorated in a classic kind of way. It had a large bathroom and plenty of cupboard space for the three of us as well as a few welcome goodies (bottles of water, amaretti cookies, apples and coffee facilities. (Being English, I would have liked a kettle and some tea but I had taken my own with me as hotels in continental Europe mostly don't have tea making equipment.) Each day we enjoyed the great selection of delicious breakfast items from the buffet (including special gluten free bread etc. for my friend). The croissants were particularly fresh and tasty. We took our time and could sit and enjoy the view for a while without feeling we were outstaying our welcome. Day three finally saw the sun in the sky and what a glorious view we had from our room, from the dining room and from the beautiful terrace for our final day! I think the crowning glory of our stay was the high class evening meal which we enjoyed on Sunday. We were accompanied by a live piano artist who played masses of hit songs all evening while we indulged in a gourmet treats and an outstanding red wine from the Tessin, which was recommended by our wine waitress. It was all excellent. All in all we were delighted. We were well looked after by the wonderful, attentive staff and thoroughly enjoyed our whole stay despite the less than perfect weather.

Basically everything was good, the sea view is beautiful, the room is very big and the breakfast was awesome. The parking lots are definitely too small for big cars side-by-side, because it's hard to not scratch another car, but that's just an opinion. The stay at the hotel was very good. There was no AC, so we had to choose between having moths, etc. fly into the room by opening the windows in the night and closing the windows, but it being too hot because of the humidity and hot weather. When we arrived there were many ants walking around on the floor, but the problem got fixed in just 10 minutes. In the hotel there is a sign for an indoor pool, but there was no indoor pool. The whole stay was awesome, but some information must be updated.
