Hôtel Valdys Thalasso & Spa - Beau Rivage

A beach facing room with beautiful views across to Perharidy and the Ile de Batz and stunning sunsets. Crystal clear waters at high tide and golden sandy beach outside the main reception. Basket Ball and volleyball court and beach bistro. Fine restaurant serving quality meals and a huge selection of food at the self service breakfast and a comfortable bar. All the staff were friendly and polite and happy to help. The hotel is about 5minutes on foot from the centre of Roscoff . A pleasant walk through old stone houses and gardens or following the coast. A great place to stay for a relaxing time in Brittany. Many thanks to all the staff.

We were very happy with this hotel. It’s quite a smart spa hotel but the staff were very relaxed and there was no demanding room numbers or wrist bands to use the pools. When you arrive they kit you out with a gown and carry bag and as long as you have Lycra swimwear, hat and flip flops you are good to go. We went every morning before the public can go in at 11 and found we were generally alone in the sports pool and never crowded in the hydro pool. Both are salt water and warm. We paid for the sea view and were on floor 2. I think wherever you were in this hotel there would be issue with the sea view, either with people walking past, cars or (in our case) the back of the kitchens. However our view of sea was probably the best in the hotel if you turned your chair away from the kitchen. As it was hot and we needed the window open the permanent noise of the extractor fan was a bit irritating, and sometimes there were delivery vans making a noise. The room was good however, quite spacious with useful extras like fridge, safe and kettle. We had room to do yoga! Plenty of storage and hanging space, could have done with some slightly brighter lighting for reading by. We didn’t use the restaurant so can’t comment on that but it would have been nice if the bar had opened for coffee earlier than 11.30. On the other hand there is a cafe just across the driveway adjacent to the beach. The beach is a public beach but very pretty and easy to access from the hotel. There also seems to be a sea swimming pool for when the tide is out but we never saw anyone use it. Parking was easy but was not adjacent to the hotel. We were able to walk everywhere from this hotel, even to the Botanic Gardens which was about 30 minutes. Roscoff is quite small.

Arrived at mid morning after an over ferry crossing. Room was not available but left the luggage in the secure area. Member of staff ver helpful. Returned a few hours later. Told by a very grumpy female member of staff room not ready. Asked another member of staff 20 minutes later if the room was ready. Yes not a problem. Shower in the room is terrible sprays everywhere. The spa can only be used if you are wearing budgie smugglers. The shop wanted€75 for a pair for me and my son. Went to use the gym at 6.00pm. Woman comes in, shuts the windows and says gym shut at 6.30 pm. Just returned from a night out, no atmosphere at the hotel, bar shut and in darkness at 9.30. It’s an over priced soulless hotel. We will not be returning to this hotel but love the town and will be back. .

The spa was a great experience, the restaurant less so and actually much less so. Having booked a table for 80m we were 'surprised' to be sent away. The 28 euro menu was not available and a very rude member of staff told us that we would have to order from the 38 euro .menu. As we were about to walk put the situation was retrieved by Tomas and good food was then delivered. This restaurant needs to radically improve if it wants to retain its rating.

the hotel does not meet the standards of four stars. the photos of the hotel do not reflect reality. the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. sand everywhere. the standard of service is low. the hotel is a bit dilapidated

The trip started badly when we disembarked the ferry to see no taxis at the rank. The free Roscobus had stopped running as it was 8.30pm. we phoned the hotel for help and they were quite useless and said they were unable to find anyone to pick us up. Fortunately a taxi pre-booked by another couple agreed to return for us and delivered us to the hotel, an hour and a half after we had disembarked. Valdys told us that no food was available as it was 'too late' so we had to rush into town and beg a restaurant to give us dinner The room was large and comfortable with a lovely sea view but the bathroom was tired: the grout was grubby and various knobs kept falling off the vast shower control panel. The towels were TINY and thin, not at all what l would expect from a 4 star hotel. Internet was hardly available throughout Roscoff it seems and Valdys only had connection to what my phone kept telling me was an unsecured site, which caused us some concern. The bar, ridiculously, closed mid-evening so you couldn't sit and watch the sun go down with a drink. We didn't use any of the spa facilities so l can't comment on those but l definitely feel that there's room for improvement at the Valdys, not least in helping out guests stranded on the other side of town through no fault of their own.
