Old Rose and Crown Hotel Birmingham

Seen a few events advertised but never attended them until this evening. Brilliant atmosphere, great round options with some questions. Curry was lovely and the fudge was a lovely bonus. Dawn was welcoming and friendly. Will definitely attend more events here.

This place was dirty and didn't look like it had been cleaned for a while. I was checked into a small room to start with and the carpet was awful. There was a used ear bud on the floor. When I told reception they moved me to a bigger room. At first it looked really nice. Then I looked down by the side of the bed and it clearly hadn't been hoovered for some time. There were 2 big toe nails there. The mattress was covered in stains.

Had our wedding here the wedding coordinator dawn was fantastic from start to finish, the venue was fabulous and the day ran like clockwork to perfection, everyone involved in the package was excellent especially the DJ - can't recommend highly enough 5 stars x

Great venue for a celebration with family and friends. We had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my 60th birthday. Beautiful setting great food, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thank you to Andrew Hodges and all the staff for a lovely afternoon. All the best. Vivienne

We had a super afternoon tea for a 60th birthday celebration. Food and ambience were great. Bar prices for drinks were also reasonable. The hotel is in a lovely setting at the foot of the Lickey Hills. Our thanks to Andrew and his staff for making us feel very welcome and for looking after us so well. Highly recommended.

Carpets in room all creased up, was more like a squat. Shower was cold, could not adjust as it was damaged. No food, breakfast, evening meals available, no reception staff.

Booked for 2 workers for 2 nights. Rooms very cold and water from shower leaking and slow. Room exchanged but no better. Workers not happy and sorry today won’t book there again.

I had a pleasant welcoime and was told that the heating in the room was off, so I would need to turn on the radiator. Fair enough. Why heat an empty room? This is a lovely old building which must have at one time been a lovely old pub. However, the problem is that it comes with all the things you would associate with a lovely old building! Its a bit noisy due to there being no double glazing and being next to a fairly busy road. No breakfast and no evening restaurant, which is exactly as advertised, so I was prepared for that, but the room I was in only had one working radiator, which was not timed to come one all that early in the morning meaning a rather chilly start to my day. As a one night inexpensive stop over, its OK, but be prepared for creaky floorboards, aging window frames and please don't try to compare it with any of the chain hotels.

Had my Birthday Party at the hotel. Very friendly, good food and great value for money. All eleven rooms were allicated to my event making it more intimate. Rooms were clean and fresh with comfortable beds. Breakfast was lovely, food excellent and we were seated around lovely big table where we were able to chat. I had a wonderful party, everything went swimmingly. Thank you to the team for a wonderful night.
