Really tired hotel. The website shows nothing of what the actual hotel is about - shows a classic country house, whereas the hotel proper looks more like a 1980's boarding school, right down to the carpets in the halls! On check in, the FDM and the other receptionist were having a discussion about another member of staff - not quite something to hear when coming in to a hotel. The rooms leave a lot to be desired - small, bland, no "life" to them at all. The tv in our room - 9 - is smaller than a PC monitor, the wifi is pretty much non existent, unless you stand with your phone/laptop up in the air. It was dusty, mould in the bathroom, small beds and generally looking very old. The rest of the hotel itself was not much better - literally everything was dirty, vines growing through windows, rubbish strewn all over, lights left on in conference areas that clearly hadn't been used in a long time. When it comes to food, it wasn't much better. Really basic menu's and staff that didn't seem to know what was going on. On our second night, the waiter informed us that we could only order water and milk (?!?) with dinner! If we wanted anything else, we had to have it in the bar! The grounds of the hotel are really unkept, fish ponds full of reeds and rubbish, its surprising we actually saw a fish swimming! This hotel is a real disappointment. Rather spend your money elsewhere - Premier Inn would give a much better stay!
