What a welcoming place. Wanted somewhere near the campsite where the rest of the family were staying. Staff are friendly, the bedroom 101 had a huge four poster and room and bathroom the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Bed was super comfy and spacious room. Stayed for 2 nights. Highly recommend. Thanks to the assistant manager, cleaning staff and the great breakfast staff. A model for all hotels. Hotel is very old and interesting and nice bar.

A lovely hotel built as a coaching Inn, so has its quirks as you would expect from an old building. Sloping floors! A good base for the forest of dean. Lovely breakfast. I had a room with a four poster bed. All rooms overlook the main town square. Not open for evening food on a Monday and didn't ask about the rest of the week. We used a local Italian which was recommended. Staff were very helpful. Parking was just around the corner in public car park rather than on site at the hotel.

It was nicer than the pictures. Staff was all business. You had to lock in your breakfast time the night form and circle your requests on A slip of paper. Lady ran a tight ship- “No paper. No breakfast!” Kinda funny- kinda strange.

Breakfast good and excellent toast...none of that nasty thin bread, this was thick, warm and easy to butter (for a change). Need background music in the breakfast room Although obviously refurbished don't expect the Hilton, it's an old style pub in a norder town

Booked a family room for me and my two teenage daughters, room was spacious and directly above the main entrance, lots of traffic noise as people seem to zoom past during the early hours. Saturday night and was told that children could not be in the downstairs area after 7pm so we had to stay in our room for the rest of the night! Extremely loud music till 2.30am people outside the main entrance arguing, shouting at 2.30am. Definitely NOT family friendly and seems they like to accommodate the locals more than the guests. Breakfast was good

Stayed here for 4 nights. And to say the room was poorly cleaned is an understatement. Behind the bed had never been cleaned and neither had lampshade on the drawers. Kettle was dirty on the outside. The carpet was very badly stained and the rug was curled up so much that it was a trip hazard. Shower didn’t work properly and was dripping everywhere. On our last full day there nobody cleaned our room at all! When we first arrived the lady we dealt with was lovely and chatty but the gentleman never spoke. Weekend breakfast staff were lovely and attentive. Monday and Tuesday was owner/manager gentleman and he barely said a word to us. All in all a very poor stay for us. Definitely not worth £80 a night.

Great last minute find for Forest of Dean visit Perfect last minute find for a stopover visiting Forest of Dean - Puzzlewood just 4 mins in the car & Sculpture Park 7 mins. Free public car park was a short walk away, which was also where we found a lovely Italian restaurant 'Amici'. Very well organized breakfast menu list provided the night before so your table was all prepared and ready to go at your chosen time from 8am. My poached eggs were perfect! Check out is at 11am giving some time to quickly explore Coleford before leaving - with a kettle & drink sachets in the room, time for a tea before checking out. Staff we're very polite and helpful - I hope there's availability next time we come back to explore more of the Forest.
