Premier Inn St Albans City Centre Hotel

The room was clean and well presented . Check in was made more difficult as the screen did not work for both ourselves and others which meant waiting for a receptionist to man the desk. She was polite and efficient. The breakfast was good. Parking was limited and we paid for parking on a nearby street . This turned out to be cheeped than the multi story car park even when the discount was applied Overall we were pleased with our two night stay in St Albans. This was the fourth forth hotel we stayed at and was certainly the best of the bunch

I have stayed in many Premier Inn Hotels with no issues, unfortunately this experience was awful. On as busy Saturday there was 1 member of staff on the reception desk (both check in machines were broken and were not in use) who was struggling with the amount of people needing to check-in. Once in my room I noticed cobwebs around the windows and curtains. Mould on bathroom ceilings but the worst part was discovering excrement and urine stains on the outside of the toilet. When I complained at reception I was told there would be a short wait for a housekeeper. After 30/40 minutes I left the hotel and went to a different establishment as the whole experience was appalling. I will be telling friends, family and colleagues to avoid this hotel.

The Bathroom imparticular was shabby. The toilet didn't always flush and the water from the tap came out in a spray rather than a stream. All these things when they charge a premium amount are definitely NOT satisfactory. All these imperfections were totally unacceptable and did MOST definitely spoil my week.

Overall service was less than adequate. Staff in the evning weren't friendly or very helpful. One staff member spent the whole evening with her phone in her hand listening to something. The bed was comfy and linen clean but for a family it was extremely cramped. All 3 beds were squashed together with no room in between. We either had to climb over each other or off the bottom of the bed. Breakfast was awful, food cold, pancakes were stale. This was raised with the chef however, the food they topped it up with was tepid. Overall the worst Premier Inn we have stayed in.

The hotel was as we would expect a Premier Inn to be. Clean and comfortable room. The shower was great with a powerful shower head. The cooked breakfast was really good value, plenty to choose from and freshly cooked and the staff were very friendly
