We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Rachele, the staff member who greeted us on arrival was also kind enough to give us a double upgrade! So our stay got off to an incredible start! The room allotted to us was sensational with marvellous park views. Thank you Rachelle!! The overall atmosphere of the hotel is a wonderful example of a Belle Epoque palace hotel, with still enough original features remaining to lend credibility, but also sympathetic renovations and additions that brings the hotel well and truly into the 21st century to accommodate even the most fastidious guest. We absolutely loved the swimming pool and sauna facilities, using them both days. There is an indoor pool with is heated to 29 degrees and an outdoor pool which is about 32 degrees (from memory) There are multiple saunas and a hammam, We tried all of them! The lobby bar and the "secret bar" were both fantastic and we really appreciated Eduardo who is an extremely charismatic chap who is utterly professional, yet also extremely engaging. We watched world cup football in the secret bar and it was a wonderful experience, Breakfast was incredible as befitting the stunning breakfast hall/restaurant it was held in. Incredible variety of breakfast choices and simply a stunning room in which to appreciate the genius of our forebears who insisted on this level of luxury. We were greatly impressed by Marina who is an ever helpful and smiling face at breakfast. The young omelette chef Tomas was also always smiling, loving his vocation and making us smile too with his enthusiasm. Then there was Paola who seemed to always be on duty. At one point she was in the bar area in the evening making sure we were comfortable, and then the next morning she was there checking to ensure everything was to our liking at breakfast. Does she ever rest? It was with some sadness that our two nights came to an end and we had to check out. It was at this point that we met the General Manager, the charismatic Konstantin Zeuke, who was positively charming and eager to know about our stay, how they could improve and where our trip would take us. A lovely, personal touch to end our stay. Do we have any regrets regarding the Grand Hotel Des Bains? Only that two nights is not enough! Next time we shall stay four nights to properly appreciate all that it has to offer!
