The service by the hotel was really good. We enjoyed both our complimentary breakfast and lunch buffet. The hotel provide free shuttle rides to the town and private beach clubs as well. The gardens are beautiful The sauna and steam room was very hot, way above the normal spa in other hotels which are slightly strange. The pools are okay not particularly special. Dinner at the Italian restaurant in the hotel is very overpriced and food is mediocre. We had to send the carbonara back because it was inedible with the amount of salt in it. The most puzzling issue we had was actually our room is fully lighted in white light, which is not common in a 5 star luxury hotel. There was no ambient light. The bathroom looks like a hospital toilet, and the decor looks outdated. We requested to change to other rooms but the hotel said they are full. It was then we found out that some rooms have already been refurbished with better lightings, and some are still dated. It made us wonder whether they gave us an outdated room because we booked via a third party website and not direct. We had high expectations because this is a 1500 dollars stay, and we expected way more for the room. Despite liking the service, we have to say it is not value for money, and the hotel can do way better in terms of their room and restaurant.

After our stay on October 26-27, 2021, we wanted to relive this experience so much that we just left the hotel and booked a new stay! Hospitable, warm and thoughtful, beautiful environment, good food... everything is to make you feel good and relaxed.

I had the pleasure of staying at Château de la Messardière in late spring/early summer last year and the entire experience was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff did everything to make us feel welcome. The room... Our room #327 was spacious and well appointed. It had both a private cabana with chaises in the front (which faced the terrace pool) and a terrace with lounge furniture in the back. We enjoyed both throughout our stay. Inside the room, we were surprised with incredibly generous gestures including champagne, sweets and gifts that were perfect for our time at the beach. The Spa... The Valmont Spa is the perfect place to relax. I enjoyed a treatment there followed by some quiet time at the spa's indoor pool. The Pools & the beach... There are two pools. The lap pool is perfect if you are seeking serenity while the busier terrace pool offers incredible views. The private beach is beautiful and we enjoyed an afternoon of soaking up the sun and drinking rosé. The Shuttle... This is a wonderful service that the hotel offers. Whether you want to go to the beach, to a nearby vineyard or into town, the hotel will take you via their Rolls Royce or mini-Moke. The Restaurants... We opted to eat the majority of our meals on property. La Table de la Messardière, where breakfast is served, had so many wonderful options from which to choose. The offerings were extensive and everything we had was delicious. Jardin Tropézina, which is located at the beach was a convenient option for lunch. We enjoyed the more relaxed atmosphere (since we had spent the day at the beach) and the view of the sea. We had dinner at both Carrera and La Table d'Estoublon. We enjoyed both restaurants; however, the lamb shoulder at La Table d'Estoublon was our favorite dish. For the Active... The hotel offers electric bikes, a beautiful open air gym and dedicated areas for yoga and stretching (just to name a few of the available options). Lastly, the grounds are absolutely magnificent...especially the gardens. It is such a special place and we look forward to a return visit next year.

I’ve stayed here a few times before it became part of Les Airelles, and then I started to stay here even more so as with the new management the hotel improved tremendously. Until this Summer. I’ve never had such a stressful and disappointing holiday / hotel stay in my life. And I travel approx 180-200 nights annually, both for work and for pleasure. We stayed here end of August and it was just chaos all through the stay. 80-85% of the guests were families or bigger and loud friends groups, so there was noise wherever you sat or walked on the property. The weather happened to be poor that specific long weekend (rainy days, thunder etc so couldn’t go to the beach) so it was even more visible how this beautiful hotel has become a zoo for families with spoilt children and entitled parents who can’t be kind nor polite to hotel staff. Couldn’t even eat breakfast with peace. There was simply constant CHAOS. So the whole experience became very stressful and unpleasant. Chateau Messardiere has increased their prices so much year on year since a few years now (yes, everyone takes advantage of the pandemic). This year I paid for the cheapest room, 1300€ in high season, but any other room beyond this category goes for the double and upwards from there. In July the prices were so absurd I refused to stay there, starting rate was 3850€ for a rather basic room for 2 people. Imagine listening to screaming children constantly for that price while you’re on holiday… It used to be a hotel with elegant and tasteful crowd (sometimes naf and bit nouveau riche of course…) - but always relaxing there and always with excellent service. This Summer they just couldn’t deliver, it was way too erratic with all these rude families strutting around as if they own the place. Sure the 15% who were lovely and “normal” was there as well, but it was tricky to notice them with all this tacky crap. I am actually still in disbelief after our stay, it’s been nearly 2 months now since we returned back home and I have to write about this so others are aware for next Summer season - I wish I had been warned myself on what to expect..! This hotel has become a children’s playground (apparently a new kids club is the big attraction now for all families). So after many years of coming here a couple of times per Summer, I will never ever stay here again. Please go somewhere else if you want a relaxing holiday. It is way too tasteless now, majority of the guests are terrible. And it’s sad it’s become like this, it was always the best hotel in St Tropez until this year.

The Chateau de la Messardiere is a hidden gem. We had a most pleasant and memorable stay, experiencing a super relaxing and truly magnificent weekend. Everything was top of the line, the staff support, the accomodations, and the amenities exceeded expectations. The property and grounds are absolutely stunning. We will stay here again in the future and highly recommend this place to everyone.

The best hotel I ever stayed in. A real 5 stars hotel. It is expensive, but really worth every single penny. Never seen such a beautiful breakfast buffet. The gardens are the prettiest ever, the whole hotel ground is fabulous. The staff are all so helpful, kind, polite. The food, the people, the place is just perfection all the way!!! The Japanese restaurant is delicious. Their beach is very clean, water is transparent, so nice with sunbeds. It was a dream to stay there. They have free shuttles to take you to Saint Tropez town and their beach club. LOVED IT!

Chateau de la Messardiere is outstanding in every sense of the word. When you enter the gates and travel on the road, lined with beautful flowers, up to the hotel you are in for a real treat. The location of the hotel on the highest point between the village of Saint Tropez and the beaches of Pampelonne is superb and the views, in every direction, absolutely stunning. The location is breath taking. We are frequent visitors to Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and love it, but we feel Chateau de la Messardiere brings it up even a notch higher. The rooms are beautiful. We had a junior suite with a private terrace overlooking the Bay of Saint Tropez. The personalized amenities(like a silk pyjama, a beach bag, a straw hat and a monogrammed notebook) added to the experience. Our first evening we started at the 1904 Bar enjoying great champagne and sipping in the atmosphere. Live entertainment accompanied our drinks as other guests arrived, all dressed up Riviera chic for the evening. We then dined at Matsuhisa the Japanese restaurant where the menu is created by Le Chef Nobu. Amazing views over the beaches of Pamplonne. The food is delicious and accompanied with an extensive excellent wine list. One highligt of the dinner was when our son got served his coke in a crystal carafe - very stylish! Both breakfast and lunch is a real experience at Chateau de la Messardiere. Both are buffet style but with extremely high quality. There is so much delicious, fresh and well presented food to choose from. We normally don´t like buffets but this is something else. Our days we spent relaxing by the lap pool enjoying a glass of ice cold rose' under the pine and olive trees. The late afternoon we spent at the wonderful Spa getting a relaxing massage. We only had two nights here this time and did not have time to experience all the hotel has to offer but we will definitely be back next summer for a full week.

Absolutely tiny rooms that overlook a car park at 1200+ Euros a night. Horrible service; no help w the bags when arriving, completely unhelpful Concierge. The “shuttle” to and from town is unusable so you’ll end up taking a taxi. Avoid !!!!
