Daniels House Inn

Beautiful historical home full of antiques, great location for walking and enjoying Salem. Would stay again. Loved the chocolate muffins and quiche one morning.

This property is amazing. The home and rooms are clean, comfortable and beautiful.

Great period house. Well decorated. Rooms were comfortable. Bathroom was as expected. Different than other B&Bs as there really is no where to go but your room. No living area, outside patio or porch, or kitchen access. Breakfast was light fare with cereal and some breads so we opted out mostly. Host lives onsite but keeps to themselves. No real interaction, which we are fine with. If you are a history buff of this period and basically looking for a room to rent this is the place for you!

It's an Experience - and I'd Recommend It! We loved staying in a house built in the 1600s! It was like getting to sleep in a museum rather than a hotel. Also - the Continental Breakfast was more than we expected! Beyond a few kinds of breakfast bread and a toaster, there was also whipped cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and a couple types of fresh fruit. We were very pleased. There were only a couple drawbacks (which would NOT keep me from recommending the experience): As no one works a front desk, you have to repeatedly call to ask questions or store your luggage, etc. Even the ability to text - rather than call - the staff would make this easier. The shared bathroom on the 3rd floor was adorable, but the ceiling is precisely 6 feet. The shower is in a beautiful old claw-foot tub a few inches off the floor. The showerhead is suspended a few inches from the ceiling. And you're surrounded only by a shower curtain - without shelves or other conveniences. If you're over 5 foot 5, showering is a bit of a challenging, hunched over affair.

The Daniels House is perfectly located within walking distance of pretty much everything we wanted to see while visiting Salem. It seems unreal when you consider the history of the home and that you are staying in a place that existed 100 years before the Declaration of Independence. The home is decorated nicely and everything was very comfortable. We stayed 4 nights in the Great Room, which provided us with a private bathroom and a reserved parking spot. I’ve seen some derogatory comments in the reviews, but we were more than happy with everything. This is not a B&B, you are renting a room. We did meet the owners and they were very nice and welcoming, but they are not on top of you all the time and leave you to enjoy your vacation. We never needed anything, but I have no doubt they would have handled any concerns immediately. The breakfast provided consisted of mini muffins (that my wife absolutely loved), a variety of breads and bagels, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, orange juice, etc. It provided a good start to the day. All in all, the Daniels House was a great place to stay and we considered it to be one of the best experiences in lodging that we have had. We are history lovers, so just being able to stay at this location was a privilege. So glad the owners are making their home available. Thank you!

While we didn't know the upstairs bathroom is shared, there were no other guests there at the time. Patrick and Adele are amazing. Super helpful and accommodating. Will give 10/10.
