This was our last stop on our holiday at the Amalfi region. We arrived by a car service ahead of scheduled checkin. The friendly lady staff allowed us in. We had booked 2 rooms and one was ready with the other still being cleaned. We were quickly introduced to the key system (3 in all). We had the London and Italy rooms - lovely, designer touched in all details. Photographer owner, whose name is the brand Vinto, had beautiful images throughout the property on that one floor. We only stayed one night in Salerno and this cute B&B made it memorable. The lady staff was also very chatty in her halting English but we managed to enjoy a good conversation over breakfast. Common facilities were the breakfast area with coffee machine, nuts, cake, sink, and a lovely photobooks. Travellers who enjoy photography will resonate with this space.

The first thing it is important to know about Vinto House is that it is not a house in normal parlance at all. Vinto House Downtown is a large second floor apartment divided (by apparently, judging by the noise from the next room, rather thin partitions) into four ensuite rooms themed by reference to four different capital cities – we had London – and a communal seating/breakfast area. It is not “set on the beachfront in Salerno”. It is two busy streets and a small park away from the seafront which is not a beach anyway. I suggest you check the satellite image carefully if the description of the location is important to you! It is at least served by a lift but you still have to first climb a flight of about ten steps before you get to the level of the lift! Our room at VH Downtown had some of the most ghastly and impractical furniture we have ever seen. There was no proper chair to sit on, just a square unit that might have been an additional bed. It fronts onto a very busy road and the double glazing was no match for the noise. The bed was reasonably comfortable but was one of those with a rim round it on which it was easy to catch your shins when walking round it because the room was quite small and there was little room to manoeuvre anyway. The bathroom was small but OK. The breakfast was truly lamentable. Little choice and the lady who turned up to run it microwaved the croissants – which, of course, made them soggy! The surrounding downtown area of Salerno is a very ordinary shopping area. It is a 5 minute walk to the Old Town which is, however, quite fun. We slept so badly – mainly because of the road noise - that we left after one night of our intended three night stay, writing off the cost paid in advance as experience. Overall VH Downtown certainly did not merit the adjective “luxury”. The room and the whole set up was pretty basic – perhaps just above backpacker standard but only a very modest AirBnB standard in my view.

Not worth a stay. Generally the main thing you want in a hotel is sleep, and you won’t get that here. We stayed in the Italy room and it was unreasonably loud. We’re not only talking about the street noise (which we had expected since we chose a busy area) but there were random loud noises during the night which appeared to be pipes and boilers we think. They were so loud and random that we initially thought the fire alarm had gone off. It stopped us from getting sleep (they were continual and predictable throughout the whole night) which was difficult in the short bed. Not to be picky, but there are also just three random chairs nailed to the wall (which somehow represents Italy) and a bedside table made of books wrapped in cling film, which made it look like it was about to be fumigated in the morning. The breakfast was a bit odd and could definitely have been better. I see what they are going for here, but you are better to either stay in a proper hotel for the same amount of money, or a hostel for much cheaper.

The first thing it is important to know about Vinto House is that it is not a house in normal parlance at all. Vinto House Downtown, the accommodation at Via Adolfo Cilento 13, is a large second floor apartment divided into four ensuite rooms themed by reference to four different capital cities – we had London – and a communal seating/breakfast area. For *********** to say it “is set on the beachfront in Salerno” is a gross misrepresentation. It is two busy streets and a small park away from the seafront which is not a beach anyway. I suggest you check it carefully on Google Maps! It is at least served by a lift, unlike Vinto House Old Town, which we went to in error, which is not. However you have to first climb a flight of about ten steps before you get to the level of the lift! Our room at VH Downtown had some of the most ghastly and impractical furniture we have ever seen. There was no proper chair to sit on, just a square unit that might have been an additional bed. It fronts onto a very busy road and the double glazing was no match for it. The room and the whole set up was pretty basic – perhaps just above backpacker standard but only a very modest AirBnB standard in my view. If you go to Vinto House Old Town, about 10 minute’s walk from VH Downtown, do be careful if you arrive by car. Firstly it is not easy to find – though Google Maps will get you there - but most importantly do not be tempted to drive into the little courtyard where it is – the Larghetto S. Pietro a Corte – because it is protected by a security system and a rising bollard which traps you in! And remember it is on the second floor and there is no lift! The old town area around VHOT is quite fun though with plenty of bars and restaurants etc nearby.

Bedrooms clean and big enough, a very pleasant lady welcomed us when we arrived, and took good care of us esp. for breakfast. Hotel close to train station (40 min to go to Napoli) and ferry station: very convenient! Good price for the quality. I highly recommend it!

This property is in a great location for shopping and dining. However, it is located inside of a larger building that gives an unsafe feel, with dark public areas and broken glass in stairwells. The room itself was advertised as soundproof however, you could hear anyone in the common area and anytime a toilet flushed. You heard the flush and the refill in the wall at any hour at any time. The bed was missing a sheet, only a comforter with what we thought had blood on it. Ultimately, not a place I would recommend, nor would we stay here again. The lady that put on the breakfast was very cordial and sweet, other than that, no real redeeming characteristics. #Dissapointed
