I only liked the view. Everything else was against us... The lady didn't even manage to climb uphill so she could present us the room! She gave us the keys and told us she could not go up. Imagine the elevation... Impossible for a wheelchair that I had told them I USE, on the reservation. The room was remotely in the parking area and they admitted to us that they hadn't used it! Imagine the distance, we didn't even have Wifi signal from the hotel. I never even saw the pool and the breakfast area which I overpaid for because it has steps all the way. I have asked for a refund and they refused. Please stop these people from renting to disabled people... It's not accessible, not even for walking persons...

We stayed at this vibrant hotel in the heart of the Sami just a stones throw away from the town centre and the beach. Maria and her sister were delightful; extremely welcoming and upon arrival very kindly asked us how the journey was, provided some excellent recommendations of places to explore on the island and showed us our gorgeous double room with a breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea. The room was extremely tidy and was efficiently stocked with amenities: WiFi, air conditioning, a fabulous selection of curated Greek soaps, shampoo and conditioner, slippers and am extremely comfortable double bed. I lobed luxuriating outside on the terrace reading Greek literature, the fabulous selection of the breakfast with feta, olives, fresh fruit, juices, tea and coffee whilst taking in the vistas of Kefalonia. This was a delightful hotel to stay at and I highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday on the most stunning of the Ionian islands. Thank you to Maria and everyone else at Green Bay who looked after us.

What a stunning location! I will never get bored of waking up and seeing the breathtaking view of the mountains and sea around Sami, of course made famous by Captain Corelli's Mandolin. The hotel itself is on the road out of Karamavolos, which is about a thirty minute walk from Sami. The walk is lovely, with yachts and restaurants lining the enclosed sea. The hotel itself had the most amazing owners, who were lovely and would do anything for you. We went there to celebrate my Wife's 40th birthday and they laid on a cake and gave her flowers. The hotel had an amazing pool that overlooked Sami, and served a decent continental breakfast every morning. The rooms were clean and tidy with air conditioning, without being anything too luxurious. If you are expecting five star luxury, this is not the place, but if you want a good value, clean hotel in an incredible location, then this is definitely recommended. We already miss being there and wish we could go back. A beautiful place.

Our stay at Greenbay is somewhat of a mixed bag. Overall we had a positive experience but there were some drawbacks that we encountered. Pros: - The hotel is situated on a hill so the setting and views are amazing. The hotel is surrounded by peach trees, banana trees, grape vines. - The rooms were practical, functional and somewhat clean. - Each room is en-suite, towels and toiletries were provided. - A/C in each rooms as well as a fridge, kettle hair dryer and TV. -Rooms contain a terrace or balcony. -The swimming pool is large and is maintained to a moderate standard, - Most staff were friendly and helpful. -The hotel provides breakfast. Cons: - Prior to booking the Green Bay Hotel, we were under the impression (from reviews and their own website) that the Hotel has a restaurant or snack bar on site. This is not the case. They do sell soft drinks and beverages but the information online is very misleading. This was very problematic for us since the hotel is quite far out from the restaurants and shops. -Green Bay is located further out from the main town of Sami, It takes 30 minutes to walk there. The initial part of the journey is on a long main road with no footpath. This is quite a frightening endeavour especially late at night. If you are staying in this hotel it is better to hire a car during your stay or book a taxi. - Upon arrival, it took a long time for the staff to get us to our room. Moreover, we had to carry our baggage to the rooms by ourselves since the hotel doesn't seem to have a porter or bellboy. This is not an ideal situation since the hotel is on a steep hill and there are a lot of stairs. After a long journey with young children this is the last thing you need. - A lot of stairs! The hotel set up is like four house on a steep hill. be prepared to do a lot of walking up and downhill. Booking, com states that the hotel is wheelchair friendly this is not the case. -Although the hotel room met our basic need, it lacks a touch of luxury and is in need of updating. - there were tea/ coffee making facilities and yet to tea or coffee sachets. Its is evident that the people running this place haven't thought over the details. - Free WiFi is available but the connection is poor. It only seemed to work in the reception and breakfast area. - From all the Hotels that we have stayed in, this is the only hotel that doesn't provide a Safe for your belongings (i.e. passports, jewellery cash etc) as standard practice. There is an additional cost for the use of a safety deposit box. This is unacceptable. - The management staff in this hotel expect library silence when using the pool. My children were playing in the pool, they weren't loud but were laughing and giggling as you would expect children to do when on holiday. A staff member came out and shushed them and grumbled. This really dampened the mood and left us feeling very confused. -The breakfast selection is the same every day and you have to fight off the w

The property is beautiful and surrounded by nature.. our balcony was draped by a peach tree and butterflies. The quiet was wonderful.. the only sounds were the leaves of the trees in the wind. The sea water pool is amazing as are the views over the sea to Itacha.. a gorgeous quiet little place to relax and unwind in the sun.. Wonderful quiet place full of nature..very nice staff and great place to relax and switch off Not in the control of the hotel but it would be useful to have regular local buses to get in and out to Sami rather than relying on taxis or walking..

If I could, I would rate it worse. They were a lot of butterflies and moths at the building. It was really dirty and we found some dirt on the bed sheets. I also found a stranger’s hair on my bed, which was horrible. There wasn’t enough water pressure and was really hard to take a shower. Everything is very old and dirty. The A/C wasn’t working properly and wasn’t good. The price is too high for that. I wouldn’t recommend you to stay there. I guess the only good thing was the vie to the sea. It was a horrible experience and I suggest you to stay away from this place!

This hotel has the potential to be beautiful, the setting is gorgeous and it has a large clean swimming pool. It’s outside the village which means a walk with no pavement and a steep climb up to most of the rooms, some with a lot of steps. It’s such a shame that this hotel hasn’t been maintained properly. Our room had several loose sockets hanging off the wall, the bathroom needed a good clean, plugs and drains etc were filthy. The shower is tiny which completely soaked the rest of the bathroom because the shower curtain didn’t fit. However the worst part was NO HOT WATER for the whole of our stay. Breakfast was fine as long as you arrive early but tables are very close together. The owners are charming but seem oblivious to many issues that need addressing in this hotel.

If you like waking up to an amazing view and having a decent swim in the pool this is definitely the place for you. They do a very generous buffet breakfast from where you can have simply fantastic views. Nicky the owner and her husband are a lovely couple and do their very best to look after you. They are really kind and helpful people who can't do enough for you. Okay there are a few wires sticking out of the walls in some rooms but it will not detract from your enjoyment of this great little hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Green Bay Hotel. The service was great and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. It is a clean and quiet accommodation, and we would recommend the sea view rooms. The hotel is in close proximity to beautiful parts of the island including Agia Effimia, Antisamos, and Melisani cave. It is strongly recommended to get a rent-a-car to see the island, which seems to be the way to do it in Kefalonia, given the limited transport links. Nearby is Sami beach, packed with restaurants and access to boat trips to places such as Ithaca, Lefkada, etc. We really enjoyed our holiday in this special place and would like to thank our hosts massively for having us.
