Very young, friendly, well-trained, multi-lingual and attentive staff. The environment is special, with a hotel that combines a palette of colors for the common areas and rooms that fit very well with the desert environment, always under the constant presence of an extinct volcano in the distance. Excursions are the landmark of this desert: Taito Geysers, the Salt Flats of Atacama (Chaxa Lagoon) and Piedras Rojas high altitude lakes were stunningly beautiful. I strongly recommend the in-hotel Nightly Stargaze in the cleanest sky on earth. Guides were very well-informed. At the hotel, my wife and I felt we were on a movie set living an experience of beauty with the support of great hotel team. We were also very impressed about how proud they are of Chile and their desire to share what their country and desert have to offer with us.

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Tierra Atacama in July. We have stayed in a good number of world class hotels everywhere, but this one stands out for both of us. Aside from the property itself, which is built in an attractive and expansive modern style in keeping with its environment, and the rooms, which are very well appointed and equipped with more or less every comfort, including a humidifier and even two showers, one outdoors and one indoors, the main reason we loved the Tierra Atacama so much is its staff. Mostly young, they were, without exception, always cheerful and welcoming, and incredibly helpful from our arrival at the airport to our departure. Nothing seemed to be too much for any of them, especially Christiam, and we felt extraordinarily well taken care of throughout our stay. Room and laundry service were very good and efficient, with a nightly turn-down service, and laundry returned the same evening. A free hotel car and driver were available for guests who did not want to walk the 20 minutes or so into town. A goodie bag is provided for guests, which includes a very useful stainless steel water bottle, a reusable snack bag and a neck/head warmer. Our room also had a mini-fridge stocked with free beverages. Dressing gowns, slippers and essential toiletry items were also supplied. Sunscreen, snacks and filtered water for excursions were freely available from dispensers in the reception/lobby area. The other outstanding feature was the food. We were on a full board package, so all meals were included. In our experience with full and half board, hotel catering is very rarely memorable; the menus are often not very varied and the house wine list rather average. We couln't say any of that about our meals at this hotel, all of which were very good, and one or two of which were truly excellent, even memorable. In addition, the house wine selection included with our meals was hard to fault, made up of excellent Chilean wines, of which we particularly liked the Sauvignon Blanc. On arrival, we sat down with the hotel's excursion manager, and arranged a very full tour schedule for the two whole days we would be there. We did two half day tours on the first day, Valle de la Luna and Laguna Chaxa in the Salar de Atacama, a flamingo reserve, returning for lunch. On the second, we did a full day excursion to the El Tatio geysers with an excellent and generous picnic lunch by a beautiful wetland full of wild vicuña and bird life, including andean gulls, ducks and waders of various kinds. Our guides and drivers - Paola and Edward on day one, and Cathe and Pedro on day two, were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and we are very grateful to them for making our visits to the extraordinary natural wonder that is the Atacama truly memorable. We would go back heartbeat and look forward, on this showing, to visiting the Tierra hotel in Patagonia.

Over the last 10 years, we have been fortunate to travel to some lovely resorts. We’ve stayed at Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons in the US and abroad. Tierra Atacama is hands down the best resort we have ever been to. And this was truly the best vacation we have ever had. The accommodations, which are newly renovated, are stunning. The Suite included private airport transfer and daily private excursions. Our guide, Catherine, was AMAZING! She pushed us to peaks and hikes we never thought imaginable. She curated and combined excursions - giving us the opportunity to ride horses through the great dune. The staff are genuinely the nicest people. They are truly interested in what excursion you’re embarking on, how your meal was, they remember what wine you liked. The spa is incredible. The pool, hot tub, steam & sauna are such a pleasant addition after the excursions. The spa team is great & the massages are fantastic. The reception staff are so attentive and kind. Carol took such good care of us the entire time. Maria, the site general manager, is so kind and personally met us multiple times & even walked us to our transfer out. Carol even prepped for us to have coffees and treats at 5am (after the moon had set) for us to do our own Star gazing. The night reception gentleman turned off the lights to give us the most incredible view of the night sky. We traveled to Atacama for our 10th wedding anniversary and this was the most spectacular trip. We cannot recommend it enough and if you are looking for a unique location for adventure and luxury but with the most personal touch, this is your place.

We stayed 6 days 5 nights at the newly-renovated Tierra Atacama. From the moment we were picked up at the airport, we felt so welcomed. The property is beautiful, with amazing views of the volcano during the day and beautiful starry skies at night. The rooms are downright lavish (mini-bar, Nespresso machine, kettle, outdoor shower). We ate (and drank!) very well and every dish came out looking like a piece of art. Excursions were well-planned and every guide we had was top notch. The spa was an oasis within an oasis and services were very reasonably priced. The staff was always so kind and attentive, we always felt like part of the family. Tierra Atacama thought of every tiny detail (ex: humidifier in the rooms, trail mix bar (!), boxed lunch for return trip to airport, THREE types of spa water every day) so that we didn't have to. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Our stay for 5 days at Tierra Atacama was absolutely fantastic. Everyone on the staff were so accommodating, well educated and informed, they take pride in the smallest details to make your stay a very special one. They have a tour specialist who arranges your tours for you. The guides and the chauffeurs are the best we have had. They are very well educated about the locations visited, their chauffeurs very safe drivers, allowing us to fully enjoy the tours taken. We especially enjoyed the delicious dining at the hotel. Every single meal was prepared for the best fine dining, from the appetizers to the deserts…and the wine served is excellent. I would rather not spoil the readers stay by mentioning all of the other amenities which Tierra Atacama has thoughtfully provided. Also, the infinity pool is so peaceful, as well as the indoor spa. Definitely worth spending time there.

What a most amazing place...and staff. our small group stayed 4 dyas.nights...and if you really want to enjoy the spa and many of the excursions, I'd add another day or 2. The food is scrumptius and the excursions and amazing. I live in New Mexico so know a bit about high deserts.... I was blown away by the Atacama Desert. Most especially the staff are attentive, friendly, seamless in their providing for any and all my needs: from smaller pillows, to ricac rica sours! The choreography of the staff make the experience easy and magical.

Tierra Atacama is a beautiful property. The smaller size of the hotel creates an intimate feel, and you tend to see the same guests throughout your stay at excursions, dining, lounging areas etc. The views, landscaping, and architecture are all breathtaking and serene, and everything is kept very clean. The food and drinks were a major highlight. Breakfast has a great buffet spread. Lunch and dinner feature 3 course rotating menus with creative, tasty and beautifully plated dishes. There is also an alternate menu with simpler options that you can mix and match from. The mocktails and infused waters were absolutely excellent. The rooms are cozy and well equipped, with heated floors, blackout curtains, and comfortable beds. Excursions are well organized and mostly involved a 30 to 60 minute drive, the vans are comfortable. The drives were generally quiet. A suggestion for improvement I have would be for guides to engage with guests during the drives or a bit more overall, as I left feeling like there was plenty more to learn. Where the stay largely fell short for us was service, mostly regarding dining. We would frequently have to flag down someone for basic service, and even then refills and requests were inconsistent. It was common for drink orders or dishes to be forgotten or mixed up, and service during dinner was particularly slow. Several times we ended up leaving without dessert in the evening or coffee in AM simply because it took an unreasonable amount of time to arrive and likely had just been outright forgotten. Given the small size of the hotel and the price point, the service did not match the quality of the food or the overall environment. Something as simple as placing water and/or coffee carafes at tables could make a meaningful difference. We continued our trip to another Tierra property and experienced very similar food service, which begs the question if it is a systemic issue with kitchen/service set up or training. Our hotel room was nice as mentioned but did face a construction/working site. It wasn’t loud, but it affected the view and privacy, especially with the outdoor shower. Our mini fridge also stopped working early in the stay and remained broken despite multiple requests for it to be looked at, though staff did eventually provide ice and beverages to accommodate on our final night. With all that said, there are many thoughtful touches that stand out: snacks for excursions/airport transfers, refillable water stations, a very relaxing spa, and an excellent housekeeping turndown service. We were also given a complimentary spa treatment for our honeymoon, which we very much appreciated. Their assistant manager Chris is also an incredible asset, interactions with him were exceptionally positive and left a lasting impact. Overall, Tierra Atacama is a beautiful and exceptionally scenic property with fantastic food/drinks. With more consistent and attentive service, mostly in their restaurant, the guest experience co
