I so wanted to rave about this exquisite parador, unfortunately we slept extremely poorly during the 7 nights of our stay! We changed rooms a few times, to no avail, until we discovered the culprit: an enormous 5G antenna, 100 meters away! San Sébastien, the capital of this gem of an island, is unfortunately plagued by 5G antennas, as well as by wind turbines perched around town, to the great displeasure of many locals. This parador is located directly above the port, which means that when relaxing by the pool, you get noise from ferries that iddle for 2 hours a few times a day, or from the eventual fiesta that goes on all night long... So, if you're looking for a real quiet place and are sensitive to EMFs, you'll be better off going to the beautiful wild north ( near Hermigua, for instance). As for the parador, it is simply exquisite, with lovely gardens and nooks everywhere to read or relaxe. The pool is huge and warm (in July). The restaurant is excellent and truly the best of this island (Menu is small but excellent : do try the Mango gaspacho with crayfish, or the Caramelized octopus). The bar courtyard is beautiful, and Antonio the barman just great! Rooms are simple, but spacious, with seaview, high ceilings ang good firm bedding. Bathrooms have been somewhat updated but still need TLC ( the large rain showerheads are higher than the glass enclosure, hence inundate the whole bathroom. And the soap dispensors, simply glued on the shower wall, keep falling off...) Common areas are exquisite and numerous. And, above all, staff is stellar, professionnal and friendly! Thank you Orlando, Antonio, and everyone! We unfortunately won't be able to come back, unless this 5G antenna is taken down, which would delight the locals as well, but is highly unlikely!
