We spent two nights at Highgrove Guest House and it was perfect. Chris kindly drove us to and from the airport. He was a fantastic host and the included breakfast in the garden each morning was a great start to the day. The Guest House is in a very safe area and is walking distance to a shopping centre with many restaurants. Highly Recommend!

It was always going to be a challenge, my first solo trip to Africa in 2025 I mean, after my wife, a South African, passed away in 2023. We'd stayed at Highgrove several times during our many visits to South Africa and always loved it, and I didn't need to think twice about Highgrove as my Jo'burg base this time. Chris and Alison and the team are the most welcoming, responsive and accommodating of hosts. As ever, they looked after me brilliantly in their very comfortable guest house nestled in its peaceful and tranquil gardens. It was lovely to again hear the hadedas in the mornings and see Roger; the little furry feline friend is such a character! The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable and the breakfasts and optional lunches and dinners are just right , especially for a weary traveller like me. If you're visiting Jo'burg, I highly recommend Highgrove for your stay. Thank you again, Chris and Alison; I'm very much looking forward to staying with you again in 2026!

What a lovely stay I had at Highgrove Guest House. The guest house is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. There were maps available for taking a walk or run. My room was very comfortable and the living space (living room and dining area and beautiful backyard with pool) were inviting and tranquil. Allison was very responsive to my inquiries and Chris was the consummate host. He was so kind and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect.. Thanks for the great stay - so much nicer than a hotel!!

Chris was such an awesome host. It was our first trip to Johannesburg. Chris picked us up at the airport and from the beginning made sure everything was right at Highgrove. It's a beautiful property as well. Felt very safe.

We spent two nights in Highgrove Guest House and it was very pleasant. You feel like at home. Room are big and comfortable. Alison and Chris are very helpful. Breakfast in the garden is great

Chris, the owner, is very personable, kind and helpful, as are his partner and staff. He is wonderful to talk to about South African history and culture, having lived there much of his life. He’s full of interesting stories and is also a wonderful chef. He cooks everything but is especially proficient at vegan and vegetarian fare. The bathroom and furnishings in my room were perhaps a bit dated, but otherwise comfortable. The garden is beautiful, filled with animal sculptures made of metal, wire and beads, and the pool lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and look forward to staying again in May.

Highgrove House has become somewhat a "home away from home" for us having stayed there three times in the last few months. Both Chris and Alison have made us feel like family and we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and comfortable haven to have stayed in! Alongside the spacious and comfortable rooms, the breakfasts and optional lunches and dinners as extras were fantastic! And of course Roger was a delight for our little girl making it feel more like home. Thank you Chris, Ali and the team for always making us feel welcome and lavishly looked after!
