Very welcoming atmosphere and also a very nice stay. I know Casa Marisa from 2016..The more I go, the more I like the place and the whole island of Fogo. Personal attention by the owners, Marisa and Musti. Awe-inspiring view of the mountains and beautiful skies.

Our large group had a lovely family-style lunch at this beautiful spot in the Fogo caldera. The service and the staff were wonderful and the food was very tasty. We had the very traditional local dish of pork and chickpeas, as well as the chicken in Indian gooseberry sauce, and the fish in cream sauce. The desert flan was lovely as well. They served the local Cha wines. The bathrooms were very clean.

Awesome property. They connected us with a guide who took us on a hike up the volcano and to the lava tubes. The food was just ok and the bungalow was great but the water pressure was really low. Overall it was a great visit. I would recommend it.

We've stayed for three night in the Hotel. The bungalow was simple but clean. The staff was nice. We'd twice dinner in the restaurant. They had one menu, which was delicous. The most impressive was the landscape with the vulcano and the lava flows.

As others said, the rooms can get hot as they are still heated by the lava under it... but this is the nicest place in town and the most relaxed stay you'll have anywhere... and they will arrange anything you need. Guide, transport, mountain bikes, breakfast crazy early in the morning... make sure you book a guide to go up the volcano, going alone is crazy as you'll end up going the wrong way and be a danger to yourself and others.

Something like I've never seen before, a hotel restaurant camp built down from the volcano that erupted 10 years ago. Round huts made with volcanic rock delightfully put together with rooftop terraces. Be careful as mine was on a lava bed that was still steaming 10 years later, very warm. Marisa is a great host and makes you feel at home. Good service, good food, great ambiance. A must to stay if you're passing through Fogo.

Excellent place to stay with reasonable rooms, hot water, very rich home-made food, all necessary information about the mountains, and all this at an affordable price! Finally, the owner is an experienced climber, and the staff is both friendly and caring.

The effort and time it took to travel to the island was totally worth it! I stayed 2 nights at Casa Marisa which is about 1+ hour on the local bus from the central bus station but there's only 1 departure everyday at noon. At other times, you will have to pay Euro 60 for a taxi. I stayed in a room in the main building. Don't know if it was just my room but it was very hot and I had to sleep with all my windows and even the room door open all night although it was very safe with only fellow travellers and locals in the vicinity. There was no hot water but it was okay for me given how hot it was when I was there. The hosts Mustafa and Marisa were most helpful from the moment I booked to stay with them providing me with information on the types of treks available and pricing, and offering to pair me up with others in order to keep my costs reasonable (as I was travelling alone). It is clear that they take great pride in the place that they have built for their family and travellers. I was disappointed that I didn't make it to the top of the volcano but this just means that I'll have to visit again and without hesitation I'll be choosing to stay at Casa Marisa on my next visit.
